Hey, if this is the wrong section please abide with me and just tell me plain so I can fix my mistake, anyhow, I see the system requirements for gmod, and I was wondering if I could run gmod online preferably PERP without lag, here are my specs.... A sony vaio model # PCV-RZ44G, it has a 2.8 GHZ processor, 512 mb of ram, and 160gb of HDD, which probably doesn't matter, but will an fx 5200 nvidia card run this game? Counter strike source has occasional lag when fast turning etc... but I noticed that turning of shadows made a huge difference, so, could I run this game on my specs?
Your thread title is 100% win.
well thank you <3 lol I can change if you answer my ? :D

It sounds like you may have graphical problems. Not sure if that's the root of your lag, but it may help. I found that turning anti aliasing completely off (under options/video/advanced) really helps, as well as disabling full dynamic range and making shadows low. It's best to change graphical settings at the menu, before you even start a game.
but can I run the game good considering my specs? or at the minimum medium? I can do that on css most on high and even AA on 2x

Gmod doesn't require much more than CS:S. Probably.
Alright, thanks, one more thing, since my ram is only 512 mb, would like evocity in perp or those huge maps make me lag, my connection isn't great but a 5 megabit download so would online also be non-laggy
I'd suggest getting atleast 1gig. 2-4gig is the norm.
yeah, but it's so old I can't upgrade ram :( I've passed the can you run it test on recommended at 100%. Team Fortress 2 I passed a little over Minimum, Maybe I can upgrade RAM to tell you the truth.

It would probably be for the best.
Ok, well we'll see, can every computer upgrade RAM, because Bestbuy was just trying to discourage me in some ways, as I have researched
Unless it still uses B floppys, it should.

2009 Source Engine :eng101:
Does that mean If I can't run TF2 I can't run this? I can run it but on like low-medium........ or is it just the engine and not graphics

I tried an FX5200 in a PC I was building a while ago, used it with a 1.6GHz processor and 2GB RAM. I managed to get 30fps on Far Cry on lowest settings, but I don't know about GMod.
One thing you can try is to download the Zeno Clash demo, it uses the same version of Source (or a very subtly edited version), so you can test it with that.
ok, I have a 2.8 ghz and well only 512 mb of ram >.< but I think it will be Alright, the only thing I'm worried about is a big map for like PERP or whatever :, I can run two worlds but lags like crysis on a dell :0

His motherboard may only support 512mb RAM max.
Lol, :( This must be why I get occasional lag in some games! I can upgrade Ram I believe fool.. :P hmmm I have a sony vaio Pcv-Rz44g can some one look that up, I'm not lazy I've searched over and over but can't understand half of what they're talking about
yeah, try crucial.com, just don't buy from there, they're generally overpriced.
ok, I'm not with my Computer, I'm on vacation using a Dell aka DRAG YOU TO well you know >< Crucial doesn't have sonys on there </3
If you lag in CSS, you're gonna lag like balls in Gmod
mostly in build servers
Well, I do good in CSS, every once in a while, but perfect in Surf
