How exactly do you roleplay in this? You need more information regarding your map, what there is to do, and all that. Right now I assume it's just deathmatch, because there doesn't seem to be any information regarding how the server will play out it's roleplay.

Convince me that the server is worth donating to in the first place before you start shoving it in my face.

To me this looks like another halo RP server where the 'elite few' get to the higher positions and turn the whole place into a giant drama fest no too far from TnB.

There is a lot of Passive RP. But there are also many events in which you fight npcs and the event characters made by the admins. The passive RP and events are well balanced. What exactly would you like to know?

Also note we are not forcing or encouraging you to donate. That is just our donation system. We put it there just to let you know about the system, and what happens if you choose to donate.

Remember that neat ODST RP server? How about the other older one that ran on tacoscript or something similar.
Also, what were you thinking putting such high donation prices and then making them MONTHLY?! What do you think you're running, a MMORPG? Whats worse is that the 'rewards' for donating are really trivial for the money I could go play world of warcraft or EvE with.

From what I've seen, you slapped together some half-done server with generic Halo models and outdated script, and want to charge people a ton of money to get simple, virtual things that make no difference ingame. It sounds like you're doing this just for the money.

Donating 5 dollars for some virtual title on a server that will be dead in less than a week is a dumb decision to me.

Also donating per month helps keep the server up, and helps us create more content for the server to make it more realistic and lag-free. You don't have to donate every month is what I'm saying. And you keep the rank you got from your donation.

That still doesn't change the fact that in a role-play server you can just skip role-playing, character development, even an admin application, and buy it all yourself.

All I see this as is an easy way for the inevitable elitist group to gain THAT MUCH more power, They can just pay you off and automatically shoot everyone, order around half the server, and kick whoever they don't like without earning any of the privileges.

This may just be a personal thing, but I really think the best way to start a great successful role-play server is to start out small with a few friends, and grow from there with a community that isn't trying to take itself like some sort of business partnership.

What does paying you money have to do with you getting free models from Garrysmod.org and implementing them in the server? I really doubt anyone is going to donate, unless your server is ran exceptionally well.

I create most of the content. There will be a lot of content on the server you will not see anywhere else. We do also use garrysmod.org but We also create a lot of the content ourselves.

If you aren't willing to help your server succeed without some sort of paycheck, why are you even trying to run a role-play server at all?

I completely understand where you are coming from. We just have to do this to get our budget steady then we will change the system.

We also don't rely on YOUR donations. I have put a lot of my own money into the server. A couple hundred dollars. But that doesn't last forever. It costs 32 dollars per month to keep the server up. Plus we need a developer's budget.

Budget? Running a server is not a business. You do it to bring your idea of fun to the masses, not make money off of it. Donations should only go to paying off the server. Profit off of a server should be a biproduct, not a goal.

Donations don't go to our own pleasure. They go to the server's Budget. Which we use to pay for the server's monthly fee's, and to create more content for our server. None of it is used for our own affairs.

It seems you're duely prepared for a big server from the start, my personal suggestion would be to just find someone with a good box and host without a fee, maybe just a small 10-15 player count, and then simply get some friends and role-play together, let the server grow if your idea catches on in the 'market' per say.

Ive done it before, not necessarily in Gmod, but Ive taken a small, personal computer hosted server and made it into a pretty successful role-play server for a time (before the computer burned out that is.)

Don't invest money so quickly, let it grow and show its true potential before you dump 100 dollars in it.

Thank you for the positive feedback. We have close to 10 players on the server currently. And hope to see more new faces in our community. Our server is hosted by Chrome Servers, and they are a great place for new servers. They gave us a free month for our 32 slot server.

A suggestion. Never advertise donations on a facepunch advertisement. It makes it appear that your desperate for money. You should do that on your website.

Doesn't look like a bad idea though. Hasn't been a Halo themed roleplay before as far as I know.
