hey, im completely new to Gmod, i got it 3 days ago, and i downloaded stuff from garrysmod.org site and i can't figure out how to add them to the actual game. please help!

0_o been at this fr almost an hour an tht read this thin aint helpin much. all the stuff i downloaded i put into the addons folder including the info.txt's and it still aint workin. iv checked the extractions area of the game but nothin shows up >.<

Now, all you must do is move the desired addon into the addons folder. The path should be like this: steam, steamapps, USERNAME, garrysmod, garrysmod, addons. This is basically it, but it may depend upon what you are trying to install. :)

yeh iv tried that, iv downloaded a map(which actually worked after a while) and some weapons into the addons and its not showing up in game X_X
1: Download winrar from rarlab.com
2: Download a file of choice from garrysmod.org
3: Open the .ZIP file.
4: When winrar has opened the file, there should be a folder in it, that folder contains your addon.
5: Right click the folder and say "extract to the specified folder"
6: locate your garrysmod folder ( C:/programfiles/steam/steamapps/(yoursteamID)/garrysmod -- then open up that garrysmod folder and you will find another garrysmod folder.
7: Open the second garrysmod folder ans it should contain more folders like: addons, maps ect.
8: Click the folder corrisponding to the addon, so if your downloading props, entities ect, extract to the addons folder.
9: if you downloaded a map, extract to the maps folder.
10: Click the folder that your addon fits into and press yes.
And thats it, open up garrysmod and your addons should be there.
TIP: Before you start going through folders one by one, scroll your mousewheel and it will go to the last extracted folder, like addons. Its a good timesaver.

Ok, I read the Read me link and i STILL do not get it, I got to my program files and to steam and they apps/games are there but I dunno how to download the addon to that file or get it to work. Help me!
Everything you download from garrysmod.org is in .zip format. When you download something from this site, find where you downloaded the file to, then right-click it and click "Extract all". When prompted, navigate to your GMod addons folder.
The full path is:
C:/Program Files/Steam/steamapps/username/garrysmod/garrysmod/addons
We really can't explain this any more simply.

So, tell me this, when you go into your addons folder, what EXACTLY is in the addons folder. Tell me as much as you can.
I have a feeling you are just throwing maps which are .BSP files and other things straight into it.
I think I solved this quite a while ago.

Get it via SVN, look up tutorials on youtube about svn.

i don`t have svn and befor you type well go to you tube again. on my computer i`m not admin so its hard to get it installed without doing somthing for my dad

new broblem less drastic but still problem. how do you wire up the sbep wepons to the fighter entaties?
