Hello. I'm going to be getting a brand new computer soon, and I'm thinking about getting Garry's mod. But, since the game is not necessarily new anymore, I'm unsure, because I don't want to get it if the Gmod community is inactive/ not present.
So this leads to my question, is the Gmod community active? I don't want to have to struggle to find a game.

Disagree, as much of the Mingebag user base is higher.. There's so many great things still being developed.

If you don't mind missing textures and error signs, you don't need to get all the Source games. You, however, need one.
Get Counter Strike Source, then you can RP!

If you get the orange box, then buy the pack with both CSS and Gmod in it, you got pretty much everything you could ever need except Day of Defeat, which is not used much anyway.
I hate Half-Life but love Gmod. There is your excuse for awesome.

Listen to this man. CSS's content is constantly used in many addons and gamemodes, so it's almost a necessity for Garry's mod.

-PHX3
-Wiremod
-Spacebuild (Meh.)
-The source games you brought so you can actually play the loaded games in-game.
(Example - you can play the half life 2 games on gmod, which addons help because nothings more fun than breaking the hl2 level by nuking the NPC's whilst they're talking)
if you're coming over from xbox you're in for quite an experience with gmod + orange box
gmod is great
it has a great community, theres tons of different things to do, etc.
tbh its the best $10 ive ever spent, so far. Ive spent countless days just building crap
