hey I can't get any of my downloaded maps to work exept for gm_mobinex first I put them in the addons folder and then I put them in maps and they still don't work and befor you say anything I don't svn and can't get it
Put .bsp files in Steam/steamapps/username/garrysmod/garrysmod/maps

do I put just the .bsp files or the folder 2?
If the folder contains an info.txt, put the whole folder in addons. If it's just a .bsp file, but it in maps.

Also, newsflash, installing maps isn't mapping.
Now just listen to what corky said, because if you don't then this would be just sad.
if the first folder is called garrysmod and there are any folder named for example models, the folder that is called garrysmod will go in Steam/steamapps/username/garrysmod/
or you can take the folders inside the garrysmod folder and put them in Steam/steamapps/username/garrysmod/garrysmod
all the .txt files (exept the readme/eatme or some stupid name like that and/or the txt file in the addons. (they will say AddonInfo or something like that if you open them)
Yea, all the other .txt files will go in Steam/steamapps/username/garrysmod/garrysmod/data/adv_duplicator
if there is no adv_duplicator folder, then you have not downloaded it
