• idea to make maps cross compatible with gamemodes?

I've done a lot of looking around and noticed there is a common problem with maps needing to be created for specific game modes in order for them to work. I have also looked around and have not seen any simple solution to getting around this. I was thinking that if Garry's Mod included one or more generic entity spawners which mappers could include in maps, this could help. These entities would only be triggered if a game mode triggered them and the game mode could tell them what to spawn and when. So a zombie mode could tell them to spawn zombies, or a game mode where players try to shoot the most watermelons will tell them to spawn watermelons. I know this wouldn't solve every problem as there is a lot more to creating game modes but I thought this idea was worth sharing. I also thought if I brought this up someone might have a better solution to this problem or other ideas to allow cross compatibility of maps.
I don't think this is possible.
I don't think it's possible either. The best route is to just ask the mapper for the VMF so you can create a new version of it for another gamemode. Or ask him to create it if he doesn't feel like releasing his work.
