over the year, dealing with gmod errors and moveing folders and svn and all that good stuff made me realy start to think about all that stuff. trying to start a server, learning about networking. i can say that gmod taught me most of what i know about computers now, also because of how close gmod operates to the higer levels of operation like lua. most games wont reveal the language that was used to program it, but instead looking at the program files to try to find out.
I'm happy to hear that you increased both your knowledge and computer skills, even if it was through a game. Personally if it wasn't for games, I certainly wouldn't know a lot about computers. I probably wouldn't even know how to assemble one through purchased components, or even yet how to maintain one successfully. These skills can help you greatly in modern life in regard to finding jobs and work related experience. I think this is mainly because a large portion of home or professional business are dependant on the assisted support of computers.
its (to older people) a less likely source of learning. but they are wrong about that.
I was young (4 or so) and a really attracted to gaming kid.I played Counter Strike over and over till I started playing the Warcraft series.Over the time,I learned how to english. Yey.
99% of good games are made with c++ it doesnt matter if they dont say what its made with, takes a sec to find out
i lrnt how to englitch frm mai werld ov warcraft frends :)
Gmod with made with C++ also, not lua.
uh.. well anything else on gmod is made with lua. i dont know what part you are talking about.
I have learned a lot since getting Garry's Mod, and Facepunch as taught me a bit about about grammar.

GMod taught me level design and got me into programming - Lua and C++. Haven't done much C++ yet, but its a start.
GMod taught me level design and got me into programming - Lua and C++. Haven't done much C++ yet, but its a start.
GMod got me looking at games from a developers viewpoint, one day while playing a well made map with some good weapons and tools I started to think "Hey, they could have done this, and made this work like that". Which made me look down into the game engine, where I noticed things like what formats are used, how things are loaded. And has reccently made me want to learn C++ to have a go at a basic engine. Games give me knowledge apparently...
G-mod changed my life to it got me at a new aspect of using a computer. I am starting to learn to make skins an film in garrysmod an I'm now playing around with Source SDK. HOpefully after july I move to C++ an learn more.
Runescape taught me engrish and all the interwebz slang :D
I can't say gmod taught me much, but games in general have definitely improved my knowledge.
:cawg: Absolute fucking gold.
Funny thing is my aimbot is called FapHack.
It's magic.
lol fap jack. yea gmod is a great game. if you get bored with it you can create something else to do.
Haha, absolutely amazing, please say that wasn't intentional!
I learned how to english.
I think you have to play warcraft some more.

Well, you COULD say that every breath changes your life. Every heart beat... So yes, Garry's Mod did, in fact, change all our lives.
Unfortunately it did not teach you how to capitalize.
I met my girlfriend over Garry's Mod. Lulz.
