The following is a different topic than the title say's, the thread is awaiting renament (new word, lol).
Hi, I made this thread because I'm upgrading my PC and want to know which hardware manufacturers are the best for Gmod. I'm sure many other people would like to know this too, so it would be convenient for everyone.
Just post your specs (for affordable computers, this thread is not a show-off thread, I'm looking for best results for the average persons wallet) and which hardware manufacturer you've had the best results with. This thread is comparing manufacturers with a affordable bias, so please don't suggest the Core i7, we all know that's the best of the best right now, but it cost's more than all of my schools computers put together.
Here's a sort of template for a post.
<specs>
<this nvidia/ati video card is the best (brief explanation)>
<this amd/intel cpu is the best (brief explanation)>
Obviously don't include the brackets, and this isn't some specific template you must follow, it just makes it easier to read.
Please, no one start any wars over the best manufacturer, just say what you think is the best. Please don't reply when someone posts that they like the opposite of what you like that you think they are brainless mingebags unless there explanation is completely retarded.
And again, can an admin rename this post to: Best Affordable Hardware for Gmod
Your processer is throttling, all you need to do is upgrade that, and you should be fine.
Everything except your proccessor should handle it fine --
Although somehow my smaller 2.3 ghz single core can handle it fine..

Well I have an original precott core which is even said by intel to create terrible heat problems compared to other cpu's. Even with my Zalman heatsink which has copper pipelines, aluminum fins and thermal grease applied once every 6 months, the cpu reaches 60 C idle. Thats 140 Fahrenheit. I could be cooking my dinner on this. Strangely enough, it only goes up to about 70 C while gaming. Anyways, I'm going to upgrade the mobo, the RAM, the CPU, and the video card. It's going to cost me my PSP (noooo!), my cell phone (don't use much, I use IRC to chat with my friends, I'll get a new one later anyway's), all the old parts (see my specs) and $100 from my pocket. That seems like a lot to lose, but I don't use my PSP as much as my computer, I only use about 20 mins of my cell phone a month, pretty much never txt.
So here's what this thread will be now, a debate of which CPU manufacturer is better with AFFORDABLE cpu's (can not afford an i7) (AMD vs Intel), which video card manufacturer is better (ATI vs NVIDIA). This is all specific to Gmod, I don't care if the Core 2 is better in CoD 4, I love Gmod and pretty much only play it.

Could an admin rename this thread to: Best affordable hardware for Gmod
and remove previous posts including this one. (except the my first one, I'll edit it)
Try and re-install GMOD, or try and find conflicts with addons, that may be causing your lag.
My specs :
C2D E8400 E.0 Ghz
4 GB DDR2 RAM
9500 GT 1GB
Gmod had around 100 fps on V. High and 1680x1050.
I bought new graphic card ATI HD5770 1GB DDR5 and i get around 300 FPS on 1920x1080
My system ATM: (I can gmod just fine on medium and it doesnt lagg)
- Intel Pentium 4 (3.00GHz by default, Overclocked to 3.4GHz)
- nVidia 7600 GS 256mb (Not the best card in the world, But i can run most of the new games (Crysis, TF2, MW2))
- 1GB Of kingston RAM (DDR333)
