Black Brains is Garry’s Mod’s oldest active roleplay community, however a lot of you probably haven’t heard of us. This is because when Garry’s Mod 10 was released we looked at it and didn’t see a need to move. However as players dwindled we began to get sick of just each other for company, so we began looking into new games. Black-Brains is a non-serious roleplaying community who takes roleplaying seriously. This means you can join and do the most outlandish thing, provided you roleplay them and don’t annoy other players too much in the process. However we do also have a serious side for those seeking such an experience in our regular private roleplay events. To register for one just check out the events page on our forum for more information. For example, our most recent event was a Street Racer Roleplay. Our admins are professional and friendly, and due to the hard training it takes a while to become an admin on Black-Brains. You cannot join and assume you have the skills for it. No matter what you offer in return. You have to prove to us you have the skills to roleplay and to be a fair admin. Please don’t join and ask if you can “donate” to get VIP status. To be respected in Black-Brains you have to show you deserve it. Finally, we don’t really take ourselves seriously. We prefer to have a good time doing what we do, Instead of caring about what people think of us or our community.

We do, in short. Our script really doesn’t do much at all, it just stores our job and our money, the roleplay is created by us, not the script. However if you are chasing some interesting features we do have a couple. Our hands are pretty cool, completely replacing the grav gun and phys gun. There is a petrol system which adds some realism to cars. The script really just aids the roleplay, rather than creating it.

The server is hosted on a dedicated Windows Server 2003 box located in Maidenhead, England. It is fully playable from pretty much any location (with the possible exception of Australia). We even have a player with a bad connection from the UAE! Judging from your name, your ping will be below 40, probably significantly lower.

Very interesting, I'm glad to see that a gmod 9 community has survived this long. I like the design of your thread and your community seems interesting. I wish you the best of luck to your move to GMOD 10.
The principal of the idea is very interesting, I would be more engaged if some of the script elements worked more frequently. For example, when I press E on letters it wouldn't let me view them and I would have to reconnect to see them.
I love all the colorful theme and such for the thread, but the website puts me off a bit :/ Maybe next project should be a new website to grip people. Anyways looks amazing, sounds amazing, hope to play it sometime soon.
Yeah we have a few bugs in the letters still, been trying to find exactly where that's been going wrong. As for the website, I had the choice of working on the new website or the script and decided to shun the website off to one side.
I remember playing on Black Brains had some good times, I even visited back there after gmod10 came out.
But it was kind of out of hand.

This does sound like the kind of RP GMod needs, something not bound to reality or HL2 story lines, but is more free flowing. This should make a massive change to the HL2 "play possum for the Combine" RP's and the "OMG so reel u kan evun piee witout permit" RPs that "serious" roleplayers seem to stick to.
As far as I can remember (though I mainly played on Black Brains on GMod 9) its exactly like RP used to be before everyone worked out they could make large scripts.
It sound's great for a non-serious roleplay server I'll try it out!
EDIT: I joined the server the script look's clean but the server is empty people should start to join I think it would be really fun with more people.
Now is a good time to play, but if you like I can organise an event to suit your times, just give me a time and I will sort it out with the other players :)
