It seems like no matter what map i go on, I'm always getting these irritating purple texture things or instead of actually getting a model i get"ERROR".I just got my first Add on thingy and when i look up in the sky it smears...Somebody tell me how too fix this?

Could tell me some maps or add ons that i don't need those other games too have me able too see all the textures or models?
get your friend to email you the models and textures files to you.
then set it up so it look like the directory for tf2 and portal

dude you need Hl2 to play GMod dont you ? anyway its is probably cos you dont have CS:S etc

I don't see any logic here. Every source game comes with Half-Life 2 content. I used Portal+Gmod when starting, with no problems, other than the lack of CS:S and TF2.
Basically the best 2 games to get (i.e the ones that GMod uses the most content from in addons etc.) are CS:S and HL2:Ep2

Buy DoD:S, CSS and Orange box and all those shitty missing textures will get the fuck out.

I know that you need CSS. when I first got evo, nothing worked. I got CSS, and then MOST of my problems were resolved. However, I still have several missing models, most of which are from HL2ep2, which I don't have.
