I have a serious problem in Gmod 10/11. Textures are strange and the game crashes! - Garry's Mod

I just bought Garry's Mod 10/11 today, and I love it, but there have been lots of problems :( First of all: The HUD is gone! I can't see either life/suit, ammo or which weapon I choose/select when I press 1,2,3,4,5 or 6! And the worst of all, my crosshair is allso gone! The most annoying problem is that the game crashes suddenly, even if I don't do anything! The whole computer just turns off and restarts! I allso got a lot of texture problems. The blood which comes out if I shoot an NPC, is red squares! The eye of the vortigaut are wireframes, and a whole lot more. Can someone please help me? I really want to play Gmod 10/11. PS: Mabey all this problems are caused because of my crappy computer ..., though Gmod 9 works perfectly ...

Ok, First off. Its your direct X if Garry's Mod has its Direct X set to 7 which is dxlevel 70 It will cause the blood and effects to be wire frame. You won't be able to see your HUD if you open the Q menu. To Fix this problem, Open Steam. Right Click Garry's Mod. Go to Properties, In Properties click Set Launch Options.. Then in that type one of the following: -dxlevel 80 -dxlevel 81 -dxlevel 90 -dxlevel 95 Then press Ok launch your game. I hope this helps :D - Jay-Jay

I have this same problem. my hud is gone and my computer randomly restarts, usually after i have got a new addon and am using it for the first time. also, i cant get the game engine up. the squiggly key doesn't do it, and none of the other shortcuts I'm familiar with work either.

dont listen to any other crap on the inter net about the ~ key or the ` key to get ur console {not game engine} up launch garrys mod pres escape click options, keybourd, advanced, and select the box witch says enable developer console and youl be like happy cous when u press the key ~ OR ` CONSOLE POPS UP lol

I do only miss my crosshair, it worked in the beginning... Thats kinda weird, but now you say it, it could have something with directX to do, i got DX10 is that -dxlevel 100 then? Since i've heard MANY who don't get that way to work, with console. It's because you need to press a modifier key to hit ´ and ~ like I do. If you want it to start up with console open, just type in -console in your loaunch options, if you want it combined with dxlevel, just make a spce in between.

i have this same problem except my -dxlevel is 95 and i have direct x 9 and i still have the wireframe

I have the same problem I have had the game for around a week now... When I press the weapons keys... e.g. 1, 2, 3, 4 It doesnt display the images to show you what you are picking and they swith instantly instead of having to click the primary key button... "I am going to try and delete BOTH garrys mod folders along with all the addons and re-install them, hopefully it will work then" I'll let you know if it clears my problem =) [editline]03:11PM[/editline] Ok everyone it worked perfectly EVERYTHING is now on =)
