Hi, i just got GMod and when i held Q and the Prop-picking-thing popped up, the one on the left was too small. So, i went into options and changed the resolution. I can't remember what it was,but it had "Native" on it, so i clicked that. I applied it and GMod crashed (not the "Blue screen of death") So i reopened it, and everything had black boxes around it. I tried to change the resolution back, but when i opened options the top half of the screen was black and i couldn't get to the video tab. I restared GMod and still i got the black boxes.
Can anyone help me. I just got it (awesome program, btw) and a website said i could run HL2 (i can't remember the webadress it's just called "Can you run it?") I have HL2

Try going to steam, right click Garry's Mod - properties.
Click Launch options and enter -w 800 -h 600 -windowed
Yeah i did that but it's still "blocky"
Only other thing I can think of is reinstalling.
Ahhh i don't wanna reinstall!
It Took me 7 hours to download Gmod!
And i dunno how to uninstall stuff from steam....

Those 'can you run it' sites are generally inaccurate, and garry's mod requires quite a bit more power than hl2.
