Unable to record .dem file

Hey, so i got a brand new laptop and gmod runs like a champ on it. And i decided to make a test in the source recorder, i was able to record fine with a stable 70fps. But when i go to load it up to record it, Gmod crashes.

My laptop specs:
Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
Intel Core i5 CPU
Mobility Radeon HD 5470
4GB Ram
640GB of HDD space

This is a new laptop, nothing quirky has happened so far except this.

Do i need to change any settings or do i have to resort to a bought version of fraps.?
