An Suggestion For Gmod (Might be a little bit useful)

Hello.
I have been thinking a bit when it comes to concole reading in game.
What i think could be good if it was added is a few buttons etc. On top of the concole.

What theese button would do:
Theese buttons would have a function to "Arrange" the concole

And what i mean with this is that when you etc click one of the button. it will hide everything in the concole exept for an example kills.

if you have an rdm situation to look up you would just click the button and you get up all the kills/deaths.

If you want to fix errors. you could click an other button to only see the errors.
If you want to see who is connecting when and what ip and what steam id the clients have.

so as summary:

some simple hide/show buttons for different type of concole info.

I've been speaking with a few server owners, and so far they agree that this could be a good function.

I dont know what you guys here think or the devs. But, maby give this some thoughts?

Yeah that would be good ; and you could bind every button to a console command?

The console just shows what the code on the server spits out. For the console every line is just a line of text. You'd have to edit all your addons to allow you to turn console prints off, so unless you know some Lua, it won't happen.

Though, the console is called the [b]developers console[/b] for a reason. It's there to report everyhing debug-wise, or just provide information that is not really neccesary for the average user. It is and never was meant to help you find out who RDMed on your server, use seperate addons for that.

I don't think _Killburn can chsnge the console and Narry Gewman is Rusty when were talking Gmod.

A developer console isn't meant to make the game more playable. So no, it is not good idea in it's current shape. Make an addon that logs everything seperately and can be shown in a menu or webpage.
