I play singleplayer most of the time, and there seems to be very little single player gamemodes released. any good suggestions on a single player gamemode I should try? just to play in between sandbox games.
why make a singleplayer gamemode if u dont got people to play it much? no one rly care making SP-GM's since there just too less players who wil play it.
Multiplayer games get more publicity and, thus, better community. Oh, and they're harder to make fun/original.
cuz gmod is mainly multiplayer and sp sux
ummmm, well this is sad. A day were no one cares about single player :(. I don's thing people realize how incredible a single player gamemode could be. When making sp gamemodes you don't have to worry about cheating, abusing, admins, minges, and player management. This new-found power would allow a developer the ability to create wonderfully rich and deep content, without the worry of assholes messing it up. But to answer your question, no I don't know of any good sp gamemodes, but I would too like to see them be made soon.
Go play onslaught evolved or get yourself some fretta. It'll give you some vague satisfaction.

The point of this is using the power of the source engine and the entertainment of the multiplayer gameplay. If you're looking to be an introvert, try somewhere else.

I do not believe the point of gamemodes is only for multiplayer games, but it is for the creation of new and fun content whatever that may be. In response to me being an invert, I have to tell you that I'm a developer my self and I will develop were ever I want regardless of your views.
Most SP gamemode ideas are either sandbox or involve AI. Sandbox is sandbox. AI just doesn't hold up to players.
Singleplayer gamemodes are for loners! I don't really think that, i just wanted to say it. What about a kind of game (like that one where you're given certain pieces to make a train track or pipe then a train or water comes after a minute or whatever) where a lorry and a tanker comes, and you have to make a bridge out of crates, and you have to stack the crates to fill a valley, so the "convoy" can get accross. Or you have to make a bridge accross a stream. Something like that. I would play that. I would happily make a map for it, if you were gonna make it.
I had an idea for a game where the objective is to covertly sneak into ever increasingly difficult houses/mansions/government buildings/banks/whatever and have to steal an item where you don't know the location and only what it looks like without getting caught by various security systems and AI guards, but ultimately it would be much better as an actual source mod than something in garry's mod because gmod, apart from sandbox, is meant to be played with others so i doubt SP games can really work in gmod.
A really fucking long time ago, I was working on a puzzle gamemode which was basically a parody of Portal, where you had a physgun and a toolgun instead of the handheld portal device, and where the (massively swearing) AI would talk to you through the chat. Didn't have enough mapping skills for that, so I gave up. :argh: [editline]09:36AM[/editline] I think I still have a few screens from my awful mapping skills somewhere, hold on for a second. those maps don't look bad at all, Id play it.
I've had one pretty cool idea for a long time, it was supposed to be called CityLife, but now someone has created a MP Game Mode with the excact same name... :/ Anyway it was a pretty simple singleplayer game mode with no real story. You were supposed to choose a citizen character and roam around in a detailed big rp city map (even how awesome gm_bigcity is, it wouldn't fit as it's not very well detailed) along with a bunch of EXTREME ADVANCED AI NPCs that would each have their own homes, jobs and daily schedule. Your character could talk to NPCs and help them in small quests (shop assistant for example) and get a little payment, much like an RPG game. AND you could choose if you wanted to be a good or a bad character and either join secret assassin assosiations or massacre all (of course it would have penalities and you'd had to serve in court f. example, go to jail or just get busted :p)...or such. And so on... I've thought of very many things but it would be too much to say here on this thread. Unfortunatly, I don't know ANYTHING about modding Gmod (except a little about mapping) (though I wish I did), or I would create it myself. It might sound stupid or something, but I think it's a really good idea :)
TheKris, before making a post, read the older post's date found just above the post itself. Some threads are too old to be worth posting in. A bit like this one. And that is something we call a "bump" when we post in an old thread. I'm just giving you a tip.
