Okay, so this notebook worked with all valve games before bootmgr got compressed. I've recently managed to fix it without the CD (uhh....) and lost all my files in the process (YAY!), installed all my steam games onto here again, but yesterday I had to keep repairing the netbook internet connection from where I sat in my room playing Alpha protocol on my ps3. Without pausing the DL's. Could this mean when HL2 was downloading that it gives me a black screen on most games but Garry's mod? When I was on garry's mod I used an add on. Looked at it, BLAM, BSOD. Today, killed myself 5 times, perfectly fine, killed Dr.Breen. Spaghetti! A bsod!? Could this just be some problems in the Download? Should I delete the files and re download them? Here's me Specs:

The problem is that you're running GMod on a netbook. Netbooks are NOT DESIGNED FOR GAMES IN ANY WAY, SHAPE OR FORM. When will people realise this and get decent gaming PCs?
Update your graphics drivers if anything.
Yes, those specs are in no way fit for games and you should expect major problems when trying to do so
Interesting that it's running Dx9 however
Good luck running games on an Intel Atom.
Guy's do you notice what I said? "this used to work with ALL valve games before the bootmgr compressed". I mean it ran smooth and could cope with lots of entities and npcs without major crashes. The only reason I said this is because it used to work, now it doesn't, felt like playing it on my netbook than me laptop. I gotta delete alot of stuff of my laptop to run it faster on that then. -.- (Re-installed. Shot Father Grigori with an SMG. Blam it happened still.) My laptop as intel graphics too but that copes with even DarkRp's....
EDIT: I went onto Can You Run it on my netbook and it even says I meet the min requirements for HL2, despite the fact I'm missing 0.10 of a Ghz.
Garry's Mod is more demanding then other source games.
Like Captain said. Garrysmod doesn't run the basic Source engine HL2 does, Garrysmod has a modified version that runs with LUA and other shit. It requires more than any other source game (I'm not sure about L4D actualy)
We can try to troubleshoot this in a few easy steps.
1. Windows updated make sure you have them.
2. Graphics card and GPU updated
3. Motherboard updated if needed
4. Shut down your computer and start it back up (nit a restart)
5. Verify the game cache of Garry’s mod.
6. Do an antivirus, spyware, and anti rookit scan. I would suggest adware pro.
7. And last shut off steam, go to the steam install directory and delete ClientRegistry.blob and AppUpdateStats.blob empty your recycle bin, restart your computer and start up steam. These are general trouble shoot instructions follow them well and if doing all these don’t work post back and I have another solution however it is complicated.
After all these steps this is the most important for you. Follow these steps to disable the Blue Screen Of Death. This will instead cause your GPU to restart instead of shutting down your computer. Follow these steps exactly and know that if you do this, if you computer has a critical err and needs to shut down it could harm your system, however this is rare and i have seen it only happen once i all the computers i have seen working at a computer store.
Follow these steps exactly:
Go to Start -> Control Panel -> System
Go to Advanced
Under the Startup and Recovery section, click Settings...
Under System Failure un-check "Automatically restart" and save the settings. There you have disabeled the blue screen and will cause your computer to reboot the GPU and not the computer itself.
