Hi I am new to Gmod and I am getting a new laptop and I was wandering if this is a good laptop for the game its called the Compaq - Presario Laptop / AMD Athlon™ II Processor / 15.6" Display / 3GB Memory / 250GB Hard Drive - Black
Please tell me if this is a good laptop for the game
What is the Graphics Chipset?
I use a laptop for all my games, including Gmod. Runs perfectly.
Specs I use:
AMD Athion Processor
TK-42 (1.6 GHz)
ATI Radeon HD3200 Graphics
Up to 1408MB HyperMemory
15.6" HD LCD
3 GB Memory
160 GB HDD
Acer Nplify 802.11/b/g/DraftN
If you have anything near this or better, it should be fine. :)
But if you are still unsure, it tells you the minimum and recommended specs for Gmod on Steam.
We need to know more about it.
What GPU does it have?
Looking at Compaq's horrible to use website, it should be able to, sadly i would need the model number and look through whole Compaq's website (its impossible to find anything!)
Get a Sony Vaio F series with a Nvidia 330M and the top i7, price only goes to around $1250 with the top i7 and $1050 with the lowest.

My friend gets around 300 fps with this one.

How do you find out what the graphics chipsets is

the Graphics Card is ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4250 hope thaat helps
Do you even need a laptop? Laptops are always more expensive then desktops for gaming. Plus you could build your own desktop. Chances are that the laptop has some integrated Intel Chip, which is horrible for games.
I already have a desktop but it is like out of disk space so I cant get it on the desktop comp.
Buy a new hard drive? You can get a TB for 80$.
Reformat it, windows tends to fill up hidden folders that you cant see with totally useless junk
well total my desktop is old and only has 37 gb with nothing on so it sucks
Then build a new one..? Instead of getting some laptop that sucks for gaming.
this isnt my desktop alone so my parents wouldnt let me

Buy your own parts. The only reason I bought a laptop is because I'll be off to Uni next year (Or the year after, if I defer the offers) so a laptop would be more useful - I couldn't exactly haul a desktop 400 miles.
I wouldn't recommend a laptop. upgrade your current one or build a new one.
Desktop. You can build a great gaming build for 575$ or less if you are on a tight budget. If you have the money go higher. Building them is much easier then most people(that haven't built one before)think.
I just want to get a laptop and was wandering if that was a good laptop for the game not to get a new desktop
I read Compaq, stopped there, and facepalmed.
whats that mean
whats that mean
He probably means that it may be unsuitable.
I hope OP is a troll, who would buy a laptop just for the sake of it?
Yeah, Compaq's suck. If I were you I would get a desktop. Laptops are limited on how they can be upgraded.I usually hate buying brand name computers and prefer to build my own. But since its a laptop your looking for I suggest Dell.

That one should be able to do just fine on medium settings I believe.
But like I said, If I were you I would put that money towards a custom pc build.
I build computers for my clients and I make pre-made packages that would suit what that user's needs are.
Heres a popular package that I build for my gaming clients -

I don't recommend Dell. My £1100 laptop has had to be repaired twice in around 9 months.

Toshiba and HP are meant to be good.
My Dell Inspiron E1505 works great. Havnt had a single problem with it. I work with a lot of computers in my business and HP, Toshiba, Compaq has all given me problems. So I highly recommend Dell.

Don't buy high spec systems from Dell. First picture is from July, second is from February - the screen has broken twice due to shitty manufacturing (Loose connections)
Maybe you just have bad luck lol. I manage over 20 Dell laptops at my jobs Tech Center. These laptops are used by kids from ages 7 and up. These laptops can take a beating. The biggest problem we had was having to replace a keyboard which isnt a big deal at all.
LAPTOPS SUCK FOR GAMING.
But if you have no choice then buy a laptop with a good graphics card.
Shop at www.newegg.com
They usually have the best deals on good laptops, with lots of specification details.

Woah, I just bought the same laptop from Best Buy yesterday without knowing about this thread. It runs it pretty smoothly.
