Post your PC specs, check the event viewer for errors, update your video card drivers, try -dxlevel 81
I tried all of my dxlevels! I added specs information on the thread already.. take a look.
Garry's Mod only goes down to -dxlevel 81
Thanks, I tried it like you said.. -dxlevel 81 It's not working. BTW, it happed to my Counter-Strike: Source too. It happed to all of my Steam games, not Non-Steam games.

Disable the steam overlay by right clicking and selecting properties.
So, do I need to uncheck "Enable Steam Community in game?" or "Enable Steam Cloud" or both or none of them but something..
sounds like your PC is overheating. [editline]19th February 2011[/editline] post graphics card
I don't know what graphics card version or whatever I have but can you post a link for me to download the latest version?
So, do I need to uncheck "Enable Steam Community in game?" or "Enable Steam Cloud" or both or none of them but something..
Steam community in-game. It's a bit problematic for integrated graphics. You can't download graphics cards...
Someone explain why he was banned?
BTW, it happed to my Counter-Strike: Source too. It happed to all of my Steam games, not Non-Steam games.
Your Garry's Mod is non-Steam?
Someone explain why he was banned?
Click on the little calendar on the left bottom of his thread and you'll see [editline]20th February 2011[/editline]
Your Garry's Mod is non-Steam?
He meant that this problem is applying to all the Steam (I think he means Source) games he owns. If he had a game bought in the shop, like (Dora on Adventure), he wouldn't have this problem
Someone explain why he was banned?
Reason says "crap thread" for this thread. EDIT: oops, not this thread, a similar named thread in gen discussion (sorry)
Sorry that I'm away guys, and yes.. I bought Garry's Mod from Steam. It's not a cracked game. DirectX Summary Memory: 2046 MB RAM BIOS: InsydeH20 v1.08 Page File: 642 MB used, 6294 MB available. System Manufacture: Acer System Model: Aspire 4930

Are your drivers up to date? Are you sure your mobile graphics card isn't overheating?
I'm not sure, that's all information I've got.
Your card fine, make sure it's up-to-date http://www.nvidia.com/object/notebook-winxp-266.58-whql-driver.html
I think his computer is overheating. Since your computer is a laptop, try using a cooling pad or cleaning the fans.
Thanks for that you two, I think it might be the overheating problem. A noise from a computer goes louder everytime 4 mins. before it cut. Thanks. :)
Actually.. My fan won't work.. :P
Bump!
Why bump when you found the answer? Get a new fan silly :<
