I've watched just about every tutorial on youtube, every google answer, everything. How the hell do you add downloaded NPCs? Putting the 'models' and 'materials' folders into garrysmod/garrysmod doesn't seem to work. Creating folders called 'models' and 'materials' and putting the aforementioned folders into the new super-folders doesn't work. Putting the folders in 'addons' doesn't work. What am I doing wrong?
Update - The models actually are spawning, they're just invisible. So, now I have two problems: one, invisible models, and two, the models are not showing up under NPCs, but have to be found through browsing. Any idea how I can fix this?
If it helps, a transparent "error" sign flashes when the invisible models spawn.
What NPC's are you trying to install?
Various packs, including this one:

and this one:

These may not be NPCs, but ragdoll models. But my question and problem remain the same.
I've installed numerous maps, and none of them have had any errors or rendering problems that I'm aware of.
