OK problem number 9999999999999999999999, after reinstalling, uninstalling and checking game cache with GMod I have given up. GMod does not mount any other games (including CSS) so now it looks really ugly and most content doesn't work.
Lesson learned: turn off auto updating for GMod

Same here :(. Mainly with L4D & L4D2
Same happens for me, but TF2, and Portal mount fine.
Affects me, L4D and L4D2 refuse to remain checked when I restart the game, so I can't use their content at all.
Odd, everything's working fine for me. Something a few of you might want to try is firing up those games (L4D, TF2, etc) and see if they actually work normally. I'm not sure when it happened, but after the update I couldn't mount Portal content, so I tried running Portal and Steam had to verify the game cache. After it did, Portal mounted normally. Kind of annoying, but it sounds similar to what some of you are going through.
Ok, that worked with L4D2, but not with L4D1
