Well I and a many others I am sure by post and threads have gotten errors for alot of their stuff they have download for gmod through sites liek facebunch and stuff. Well no worries cause Steam Cloud posted in the news for Garry's a Mod a link to www.rockpapershotgun.com that stated the reason for said errors.
Heres the quote, "Unfortunately-named news site Gamepron is reporting that Mr Garry Newman, creator of Garry’s Mod, has gone and done something clever: he introduced an error to his game, an error which only affects pirates. It was a trap! Said pirates even turned up on the G-Mod forums to discuss why their game didn’t work. Reporting the error even revealed their Steam id. Hilarity ensued.
More of this sort of thing, Internet. (Even if it is basically pretty sinister.)"
So basically if your not the person who made the said pirated stuff that is causing you errors, the said creator of Garry's Mod Garry Newman is calling you a pirate and basically screwing you over and laughing it up. How nice of someone that is making money off of us to screw over the ones using pirated stuff unaware of it being pirated in the first place.

i downloaded my game through steam and it wont work after the newest update i bought it two days before they updated it....
Seems their error thing is doing more then targeting pirated gmods think it has some errors too it causeing more errors and their just taking it as anyone with errors must be a pirate
This is outrageous, I bought Garry's Mod on Steam and paid in full, and I'm still getting errors!
yeah the error is polygons dont shade normal thats the on pirates are getting everyone else even on steam forums especially mac users things wont start up at all not just gmod

Yeah so did I and I got tons of errors on stuff that I never had errors before.
his what thought of innovative virus to catch pirates has screwed alot of ppl over
But doesn't it seem a bit odd that just about the only source of this information of Garry's pirate-stopping plot is an article from this sketchy gaming news website? I think they are either trying to start a rumor, or they are in cahoots with Garry.
All of this was probably an honest mistake by Garry, right? If not, I need more proof.
i dont who did what as long as they fix a game i paid for like i only have counter strike source but it ran fine with garrys mod then since the updates it wont work but counter stroke does
For some reason my CSS skins are all purple and black.

Oh wait that's unrelated, I was in the middle of updating.
gmod wont even work for me :(

Go onto Steam click Garry's Mod and click news it has the link and I don't think steam would post nonsense or rumors in the news. Seeing as they never took preorders for Duke Nukem Forever or Colonial Marines like everyone else does for games that will never be released.
i did everything steam said i even sent support a message they never got back to me its almost been a week

I quote, "Unfortunately-named news site Gamepron is reporting that Mr Garry Newman, the creator of Garry's Mod has gone and done something clever: he introduced an error to his game, an error which only affects pirates. It was a trap!".
Note that they were only reporting from information based off of Gamepron. Who says Steam might have been a little gullible?

True I mean if you look at my account on steam I got shots of hacks having like 8 turrets up by one person in TF2 and them servers are suppose to be hack proof. Yeah they just might be a little gullible but at least their not stealing our money taking preorders for games that never will happen.

I don't understand where your sarcasm is going. What do game pre-orders have to do with Garry scheming pirates with "fool-proof" errors?

You was talking about steam and thats what I was talking about with that quote you posted not GMod
First you said that Steam wasn't likely to post nonsense or rumors in the news. Then I told you, maybe they were tricked (or in cahoots with) by Gamepron. I never said a thing about pre-orders, just Steam's likelyness to post an article with faulty information.
The error does not affect non pirates. Stop talking like there are "innocents" affected.
How the fuck can one NOT be aware that "stuff that they are using is pirated". You can only buy Garrysmod legally out of steam and if you do, you will never get the error.
It's already cracked lolol.
And? He didn't want to make it hack proof, just more work for the pirates to get round and to give legitimate users something to lol about.
People thinking all errors are the anti piracy check are morons. The only ones (that I know of) are polygon and nonogon errors.
I should point out that the anti piracy also seems to catch people who have pirated other games on steam, not just Garry's Mod :-)
