• Do you think it is a good idea to make gold a major factor in gaining money in rp?

I am nearing the end of my economy system for my rp server but I wasn't for sure if I was taking this to far or not. I was thinking about making players mine for gold and then turn it into the government for paper money in return. This way money wouldn't just be infinite and it would still have some value I guess. I feel like that might be going to far though. I do understand money is only a concept and we give it value. I thought maybe putting actual effort into getting it would help to give it value. How much value it is would be completely left up to the players to decide with selling and purchasing items. Known issues: Players hording money and never playing again Abuse of the system to easily gain cash, but might fix itself with players selling and buying items at their own price possible decline in money value depending on how often gold is found What do guys feel about this idea? Do you think i should try this idea or just leave gaining money the old fashion way by just getting it out of thin air.

Vanity stuff that doesn't really do anything but costs quite a bit that is sold by and npc, thus removing the money from existence.
Interesting idea, you don't necessarily need it to be gold though, as the lurker says, you just need a way to burn the money out of existence again. I'm going for a government money printing thing in my own gamemode (central bank) but I decided against gold because it makes things a little bit more complex.
