Hello and welcome to my tutorial. In this tutorial, i will be showing you how to get models and materials from a l4d custom campaign. First lets go over the requirements. A Computer running Windows or Mac with at least 1 gb of ram. Garrysmod Left 4 Dead 1 or 2 (Depending on campaigns requirements) A Program to open VPK files like GCFScape (PC) or Source Finagler (Mac) A Left 4 Dead Campaign (You can find them @ L4dmaps.com) The Ability to go through game files and open VPK files. !IF YOU HAVE THOSE REQUIREMENTS CONTINUE! Ok. Now that you have the requirements we can get started. Here is a step by step guide. 1. Locate the left 4 dead campaign VPK file. /Steam/SteamApps/common/left 4 dead 2/left4dead2/addons/ 2. Open it with a VPK Extracting tool. 3. Create a folder on your desktop that says something like this: "Warcelona Content" or "No Mercy Content". 4. Drag the materials and models to the folder you just created. 5. Make a new document in Notepad or Textedit that says this: "AddonInfo" { "name" "Name of folder" "version" "1.0" "up_date" "Put Date here" "author_name" "Leave Blank" "author_email" "Leave Blank" "author_url" "Leave Blank" "info" "Description for content" } 6. Save the file as "info.txt" (No Quotes, Make sure it doesn't say info.txt.rtf or something like that). Put that file in the folder you created on your desktop. 7. Put the folder with the models, materials and text file into your addons folder. 8. You're done! Hope this helped, if you have questions post a reply below.
This goes better in the Models/Skins section.
