so, I see there is a lot of people making threads or bumping them, who have only like 1 post. Which kinda means they just made another account for fun to bump something.
I think garry should make some system on facepunch, like
When you press register, it asks for Steam page ID, and generates code which you put on your community page. ( Something like verifying gmod)
I know many of you would say: " What's the big problem to use same account each time? "
Well make it record steam id, so if user tries to register on facepunch for second time with same steam, he fails at doing that.
Another question: " What if user makes new steam quickly? "
Well, then make only registration for gmod owners, or at least 1 game owning. Like CSS, or even Heroes IV or any other game as long as it's purchased. I mean no one would create a fake account buy a game on it just to troll a bit on facepunch.
Because these 1Posters are annoying.

Uh, if you have a dynamic IP you can just turn off your router for a while, and when you turn it back on you have a new IP. It works for me atleast.

Most homes are dynamic now. I can't even get a static from my ISP. They refused to give me one even if I was to pay.
The big problem to use the same Steam account for everything is that if it get's compromised, you're royally fucked

More and more people are finding the forum from things other than Garry's mod. The Garry's mod section has introduce a lot of people to the game. Also, limiting a section to people who have the game is dumb.

If they limited the forum to Steam members then ONLY people who have steam / most likely already have garrysmod will visit the forums.The forums generate so many sales for garrysmod that it's safe to say without the forums garrysmod would not be where it is today.It's also safe to say that without the income from the forums FacePunch Studios would not be able to devote so much time to Garrymods. This forum is NOT just a Garrysmod forum, hasn't been for a long time.
You could make the LUA Release section for people with linked accounts only I guess, but so many good devs get banned for stupid reasons. Would limit the 3rd party addon development somewhat.
Then there are the factors of some people don't WANT to link there steam account. Facepunch can be a festering pit of shit at times. Where some odd weird post can have some kid launching script kiddy endorsed attack at your IP or you're favourite servers IP.
In every aspect you consider it is a terrible idea to force facepunch users to have a steam/garrysmod account linked.

Would that really be worth it though? It would take out so much discussion, and it would be tearing down what amounts to a highly effective (if unintentional) advertising campaign on Garry's part, all this just to stop the occasional post that people can point and laugh at?
