Does anybody know of a way to play HL2 in gmod? Also, would that be considered stealing?
Talk to Robotboy about this, I know he was trying to fix it for GMod. You can just load up the campaign levels in the map menu and it will mostly work.

But if you load them in the map menu, will it automatically switch maps like it does in hl2?

It will. I've actually played through the campaign in Garry's Mod, the only real difference I can recall off the top of my head is that the vehicles won't have their mounted weapons.

If you do play it in gmod, can you do it in sandbox? I would be interesting to play the game with new weapons, NPCs, and vehicles!
You sure can. Just make sure Sandbox is your selected game mode.
I got stuck in breens office last time I tried to play in gmod.(After you get there in a pod)
You can and it is not illegal if you get the maps using game mounting.
Keep in mind that the maps may be bugged in some places.
