So lately I've been thinking of hosting my own servers for my community, buying actual servers to put in my basement and connect them via lan....The internet speeds are 75/75 with 20 ping and we're likely upgrading to 125/125 10 ping, my co-owner also liked the idea but thought to ask the community... So here I am.
You'll be fine unless you get ddosed - then your isp might terminate you.
Good luck!
Only worries I had were about that... Thanks for the reply though!:)
Don't use Script Fodder
I already own a community, I use scriptfodder, why would I not? I pay for 2 servers to be hosted by NFO..
ScriptFodder is fine, just don't go overboard with buying all the scripts and calling yourself custom.
He just has an issue, so ignore him.
Nothing is custom on my servers yet, co-owner and I are making custom addons ATM so until then nothing custom XD Also, I noticed... LOL
Depending on your ISP, you may be violating their ToS / AUP by hosting servers.
Struggles, I'll have to read up on that...

this is very rarely enforced. almost every isp in north america has some bullshit blanket statement saying you can't host anything from your connection but i've never heard of anyone having their service cancelled over such a thing.

That would really depend on how much traffic you send/ receive. They generally don't care if you run small servers but keeping populated ones up 24/7 might get you an unhappy letter from your ISP :p

They won't care even with 24/7 servers. The problem is ddos attacks. If you get hit with an attack and it disrupts all customers in your area then you will more then likely be terminated on the spot.
