What i'm looking for is ideas i need ideas to make my community better. Players of course i need players to help me out and check out my server(s) and tell me what needs improving and what needs to be added and just to have fun on it.
First of all welcome to the forum I hope you enjoy your stay! Second well Here are some few suggestions to add to your Darkrp server to help boost players and people will enjoy it more Custom addons Learn how to use GLua, its a very easy programming language, you don't have to be a genius to learn it. It will help you diagnose problems with already installed addons and if you are feeling brave, you can start to make your own! Servers with their own unique addons are sure to draw more players since it will help it stand "out" from the other servers. Make sure to do a notepad or word document of your addon first and perhaps take suggestions in your community to make sure it will be popular. Weapon packs If you want a popular server, you can use the m9k weapons packs as its one of the most popular weapon packs to use, however yuo can also add special weapons for VIPS, personally I recommend this weapon pack http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=114275366 as its unique and not many other darkrp servers use it so its bound to draw players in. Also the download time is very low so it wont cause strain at the loading screen for players constantly waiting Maps Sorry to say this, but you should probably stick to the downtown or rockford maps for now.. I know they are not very unique but they really draw players in. Once you have a stable playerbase you may change the map to a new more unique roleplay map. Me and some of my friends servers found this out the hard way. We used a very old RP map and got hardly any players, the minute we switched to rp_downtown_v4_v2 we got lots of players on the servers.... It's unfortunate but it is sure to attract more players. Jobs Make your jobs more unique but still attractable. Try to think outside the box for this one! Sure its fine to add jobs like swat and hitmen as they are popular and well known, but perhaps add some new jobs as well that are not used in many other servers, for this one you have to have an imagination but try looking at some real life crime/drama films/series and take inspiration from them, or is there a job you know in real life that isn't in darkrp? Maybe try to add it! Don't make all the new jobs VIP only as people will not want to play, make around 50 percent of "unique" jobs playable by ordinary players and more powerful jobs VIP only. This will encourage people to donate but not feel unfair for the ordinary player. Cars Another thing that sadly isn't very unique but attracts players is "tdm cars", Lots of people join servers just because of the cars that they have, Add a FEW tdm or scars to the server but don't go over-kill. Make the car prices reasonable but not too expensive, you don't want people sitting in their bases printing all day but on the other hand you want it to be a challenge for them to obtain one, try to get the balance right with the prices and you will be fine. Staff and ranks When employing server staff you should try to do some quality control checks before hiring them. Make them aware that they are not looking for trouble, but make them act upon reports instead. This type of administration style is not too intrusive on peoples roleplay, but at the same time will maintan a peaceful server environment. Of course you have have at least one admin on duty to check for propspammers or mass rdmers, but don't go over-kill. In regards to the ranking system, try to make it so instead of having many ranks like "community manager", "head admin" ect. Just keep it simple with moderator, admin, superadmin, owner. This simple ranking system will not make it too complex and there shouldn't be as many people out to get each other. Make people aware that they are all working towards the same goal too, to keep the server safe and fun, not to look for the slightest rule break and punish upon it Building Many Darkrp servers are too restrictive on building, this is very unfortunate as before darkrp was alot about building and people would roleplay creatively using building tools. Because of people "exploiting" building tools are often revoked. However this does not stop people coming on the server and crashing them. Even on servers with restricted building tools and prop protection, it is still very easy to crash/lag a server... So instead of restricting people, have a staff team who know what they are looking for, and instruct the users that any abuse of building tools will not be tolarated. Another idea may be to add so only after 12 hours they may use certain tools on the server, this is to stop people simply coming on the server and exploiting these tools. Rules Try to make the rules simple but effective, servers with too many rules are often not fun to play on and encourage admins to "look for trouble" purposely just to get people punished. Many rules on the darkrp servers do not make sense, or do but do so in a bad way, one of the countless examples is that you have to /advert raid before raiding a player. This is to stop rdmers who excuse that they are raiding people. However it would be much more easier if they were to use the admin chat @ raid, to say so the admins are aware to void any reports of RDM there but the act of suprise in a raid is still carried out. The same applies for other rules that are similar. VIP As I mentioned earlier about a VIP system in jobs, Don't make them too powerful, but do not make it so people won't want to be them either. It's a very hard balance to make that even I have struggled with in the past, if there a special privalege or addon that you have added, instead of just making it VIP earlier perhaps make it so certain features are accessible to normal players, but the more advanced features are VIP earlier. This makes it so players to not feel that they are missing out too much but will still want to donate to get the VIP rank if they want. Wiremod Wire is a very useful tool, however it is feared by many Darkrp servers due to the "abuse" that has been reported by it. However proper moderation and people who know what they are doing. Wire can not be abused, restricting the gates and E2 tool alongside some others to admin/vip only will prevent this. Read up or make a post on the wiremod forums for advise, Wire is actually a very relevant tool to roleplay, you can build wire bases with alarm systems and other security features. The possibilities are endless and many people choose to play on servers based on whether they have wire or not. I hope these suggestions help with your Darkrp server, If you have any more questions feel free to ask me and I will try to respond. Once again welcome to the forum and I hope you enjoy your stay! :)
Honestly just be unique with what you do and keep the community constantly involved. More players will come in time, not nearly as quick as you may expect/hope but they will come.
