• Junkyard Challenge! - ACF Building and Wargames
    38 replies, posted
For the past few weeks, I have heard a growing trend in the GMod community! Old players are upset with the lack of fun things going on, new players are unable to build, and a growing trend of roleplay servers without ACF is making us all very much upset :(! It was also in this commotion that I heard a few players being nostalgic about the good old days of Garry's Mod 9, and how they missed only building with the props available from Half Life 2, CSS, and otherwise. From this came an idea between a group of players on GGG servers, and the idea is rather straight forward, and hopefully fun for everyone. The idea: The Junkyard Challenge What exactly is this you might be asking yourself, and don't worry, the rules of this challenge are rather quiet simple! 1. You may only build with props found in Useful Construction, Useful Comic, and the directories of HL2/HL2:E1/HL2:E2 2. Wiremod of all types is fully allowed, so long as it follows normal ACF rules. 3. All contraptions must be powered by ACF. No ifs or buts. 4. E2 Holograms are limited for very minor detail props. 5. All materials must be HL2 base materials, or no materials at all. The hope is that on June 20th, players will come with their new built contraptions to GGG - Baikonur (192.157.56.114:27018), and duke it out on a team deathmatch. As a system is already set up, all that needs to be done is the servers score counter reset. Also feel free to use this thread to post images of your finished contraptions or works in progress! If you would like to just build a contraption and just post some images or videos of it working, that's fine as well! One final thing: After the battle on June 20th, I'll probably put up a strawvote regarding another competetive building setup. Some have suggested Woodwars, Goliath Junkyard Wars, and Junker Boat Wars! Either way, good luck and have fun building.
The Syrian Peltzer: A somewhat shitty IFV designed to be something vaguely within the building ability of Syrian rebels (Google homemade Syrian tank). Designed mainly to rape smaller vehicles and infantry, it features a 25mm SA cannon with over 50mm of penetration and a 7.62 machine gun coxial. [t]http://i.imgur.com/mDqoYyF.jpg[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/r6ebD8c.jpg[/t] Stats: -Main Gun: 25mm SA Cannon -Coxial: 7.62 Machine Gun -Weight: 8.7 tons (any less than this and keeping that main gun from sagging becomes a problem) -Engine: 1.6L Diesel I4
"All contraptions must be powered by ACF" No mechs then :(
My F-40 light tank, It probably won't survive a tank-on-tank battle but I tried. :v: [t]http://i.imgur.com/hkeur2C.jpg[/t] Features: Main Gun: 50mm Short Cannon Secondary Gun: 7.62 Machinegun Engine: 6.2L V6 Petrol Engine Weight: 22 Tons EDIT: After looking at it for a time, I thought that I can decorate it more to make it look like it was from the junkyard. [t]http://i.imgur.com/bxe9lMa.jpg[/t] And in the meanwhile I added a light SPG variant to it. Classified as the F-40S [t]http://i.imgur.com/lQYkw4B.jpg[/t] Main Gun: 75mm Howitzer Engine: 9.2L V12 Diesel engine Weight: 19 Tons (2 tons lighter) The Light SPG variant will probably be useful in spamming HE shells on the checkpoint or on other light armored tanks.

T4 Carabao Medium Tank Specs 75mm Main Cannon Two 14.5mm Machine Guns Two 3.1L I4 Diesel Engines CVT Transmision 32 tons
Because that syrian tank I made is awful and I really wanted to make something involving the vanilla hl2 cars: The Junk Truck. [T]http://i.imgur.com/zxPQS5f.jpg[/T] [T]http://i.imgur.com/7bEd9Pd.jpg[/T] [T]http://i.imgur.com/GGtWxCY.jpg[/T] Stats: - Small V6 Engine - 12.7mm MG - ~3 Tons - 4 Wheel Drive - ~42 MPH top speed You might think this is going to be as useless as the day is long but it's rather good at defending cap points that are too tight for big tanks. It's also good for getting between caps relatively quickly, especially in that early "we're all going to the cap points" stage at the beginning of a round.

Mobility wise, it's capable of reaching cruising speed in 10 seconds, zero point turns, and full speed reversing. The potent armament and mobility is offset by the fairly weak armor, at 115 mm nominal frontal. It is somewhat capable of short range engagements IF there is sufficient terrain to constantly break line of sight.
Small-ish ~20t tank with a 75mm low-velocity cannon. [t]http://puu.sh/ipWGQ/8cf170c94b.jpg[/t]
Well i go with heavy stuff: [t]http://puu.sh/ipXBN/6b4ba27f1e.jpg[/t] [t]http://puu.sh/ipXAz/fc47bf9568.jpg[/t] [t]http://puu.sh/ipXBf/a2e92a173f.jpg[/t] compare to my VK7201K: [t]http://puu.sh/ipXC5/99877af863.jpg[/t] I like that ferv data sheet idea so here we go: XF140-59 "Jaeger" Role: Prototype Long Range Tank Hunter Tonnage: 59,99 Powerplant: 2x 23l V12 1620hp Transmission: CVT 3000RPM max Arnament: 140mm High Velocity Cannon,5x14.5 KPVT for self defence vs infantry Ammo: 16x140mm APHE 260mm pen, 16x140mm HEAT 458mm pen, 3200x14.5mm AP 20mm pen XF140-59 "Jaeger" Abandoned project of medium Tank destroyer named XF100-20 discovered and modified by rebels main modifications: - enlarged superstructure - changed engines into 2x 23Litre V12 - changed main cannon from 100mmAL into 140mmC - incrased all around armor - changed 7,62mg into 14.5 KPVT and another one: [t]http://puu.sh/iq5hE/4fe6a90ed6.jpg[/t] [t]http://puu.sh/iq5jk/d19e837d4d.jpg[/t] [t]http://puu.sh/iq5lC/7a600e2406.jpg[/t] XFS203-36 "Scythian" Role: Heavy SPG system Tonnage: 36,28 Powerplant: 23l V12 810hp Transmission: CVT 3200RPM max Arnament: 203mmHW Ammo: 21x203mm HE shells XFS203-36 "Scythian" indirect artilery system use same chasis as XF140-59 but have less weight and massive 203mm Howitzer that can defeat most of the targets in 1-3 shots. This artilery using RAASv3 (Red Advanced Artillery System version 3.0) stolen from forgotten _Beckett base. Thats why its one of the most dangerous artillery system ever deploy It can also be fitted as devastating direct tank destroyer, but it have only 45mm frontal armor. damn my english... :v:
T minus 4 days, who is ready to rumble
Ready to rumble on my end.
Just built this Infantry Fighting Vehicle because i felt my tank was a bit too sloped and cheap[IMG][/IMG] Specs 29T 20mm Machine Gun 2 3.1L I4 Diesels
It's a work in progress \:v:/ [t]http://images.akamai.steamusercontent.com/ugc/31870703041672152/CEAD82EECB62F7EC2DA608158F125FADD31DC2B1/[/t]

I would join in, partially because ACF sounds really cool and partially because I have a massive hardon for Tanks but the problem is that I don't know jack shit about ACF or even Wire(although I have a small idea about it).
You still got 2 days till the rumble, you should be able to learn it pretty fast And these tanks only really take a day or two to make
Just built this in about an hour The T6 Python [IMG][/IMG] [IMG][/IMG] The Specs 5.2L V6 Diesel CVT Transmision 75mm Long Cannon 7mm MG (Fast Firing) 23T The Python is a pretty small and fast tank destroyer, the 75mm cannon is high caliber enough to take out the heavier competition with some well placed shots. I have laced the front with 150mm reactive plates, in the case of getting shot you will have an extra chance at survival against those high caliber guns. And if you are ever in trouble in this tank, you can just easily out speed and out maneuver your foes. I built this tank to provide fire support for the heavier tanks and for infantry capping points. If you see this tank on the battlefield, you better hope its on your team.
I decided to build another one: [t]http://i.imgur.com/W61wyBk.jpg[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/iH9MWnx.jpg[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/T7Gw89d.jpg[/t] PA-HJT1-X1 "Ranger" Tonnage: 60 Main Gun: 120mm Cannon Powerplant: 2x 21.0L V12 Diesel Propcount: 86 A much heavier tank capable of dealing much heavier damage than the last one i built.
I do another modification [T]http://images.akamai.steamusercontent.com/ugc/44256030258802666/C858E46506C4724BD0DBB7E54E6B2095127E60BF/[/T] [t]http://images.akamai.steamusercontent.com/ugc/44256030258803000/62F3BA9D9B193FE0CF3A6D478C74E4B95DED3D7F/[/t] XFH-155-58 "Arbalest" Role: Heavy Tank Tonnage: 58 Powerplant: 2x23l V12 1620hp Transmission: CVT 2900RPM max Arnament: 155mmHW, 40mm HMG, 14.5 MG Ammo: 155mm HEAT (500mm pen) 40mm HE and 14.5 AP (20mm pen) Heavy design as infantry support and anti tank, Armed with devastating 155mmHW can penetrate 500mm RHA. Also co-axial 40mmHMG is devastating vs light vehicles. In the end it use driver 14.5 KPVT Tank itself is in prototype stage - heavy gun and turret makes impossible to rotate 360deg so it has to be limited to 240deg, also mobility and suspension is worse than in XF140-59 "Jaeger"
[t]http://puu.sh/ium5x/adba252cba.png[/t] [t]http://puu.sh/ium76/14f7d2059e.png[/t] A probably useless scout car. FV-12 14.5 tons 1x 4.8L I6 1x 20mm AC 2x BGM TOW ~45mm max armor 66 props 60 mph limited (will hit 90 without governing, it's just too unsafe)
[t]http://puu.sh/iuU3a/c5e0fd7478.jpg[/t] GDA Type-4 Rev. 41 Role: secondary front offensive support Tonnage: 22 Power: 12 hp/ton @ 275hp Straight 6, 20 gallons fuel Transmission: 3 forward gears, 1 reverse Speed: 32 mph max Armament: 75mm shortbarrel cannon, elevation +12 to -8 degrees Ammo: 23x 320 m/s HEAT, 204mm pen Shitty lore below: The General Defense Association Type-4, as the name would suggest, is the 4th and last armored vehicle in a series of testbeds produced as part of a state-initiated trial to secure and eventually produce armored fighting vehicle designs as part of an army-wide mechanization effort. The Type-4 was deemed most successful of the 4 entries by GDA after the two testbeds supplied were run through offensive and defensive trials. Initially, main armament consisted of a 50mm cannon, but it was suggested that this be switched for the more promising 75mm gun due to its more effective explosive payload. This, along with other modifications were implemented, and in 1938 the design was put into production and eventually made its way to the field. In 1940 it was realized that the armor plating on the vehicle was insufficient to deal with growing threats being deployed against it. The type was quickly withdrawn from frontline service on all major fronts in favor of more heavily-armored contemporaries that were tehmselves rushed into active duty. In 1941, a design revision including addon armor plating hung from the upper superstructure and the gun mantlet was approved and rushed into production, bu by this time even this stopgap measure proved inadequate, and many units were lost in attempts to redeploy the machine in more aggressive fronts. Due to this, all units ordered were cancelled, and the remaining vehicles were pressed into service as defensive countermeasures. Some were used in secondary offenses with success, but the type was quickly superseded by machines that were simply technologically superior.
So we need to setup a time for when the meetup will occur. What time would everyone be alright with?
I'll be free all day so it wont matter to me.
-snip- gonna wait for the next one
I suggest a little later in the afternoon for all the differing timezones people are in
last tank from my Junk armory: [t]http://images.akamai.steamusercontent.com/ugc/44256327058451055/5E0F6A7B98A5E695D72E6A8C4EDDC1889D847D8C/[/t][t]http://images.akamai.steamusercontent.com/ugc/44256327058450804/B394A6F6F9683C68779057C284902D8708AE099B/[/t] [t]http://images.akamai.steamusercontent.com/ugc/44256327058450517/A271753CEF29C25A79289F4CDE8409D3D0D5F72A/[/t] XG-75-22 Warhound Role: Medium Tank Tonnage: 22 Powerplant: 4.8l I6 253hp (revisionA) or 6.5l I6 220hp (revisionB) Transmission: CVT 5000RPM (A) or 4000RPM max (B) Arnament: 75mmC, 12.7 MG, TOW Missile Launcher Ammo: 75mm HEAT (200mm pen) TOW HEAT (160mm pen) and 12.7 AP (15mm pen) Medium tank used mostly as fire support for heavier tanks. Its 75mm cannon can deal vs most tanks in its weight category and heavier stuff aswell. its stationary TOW launcher should be effective as "top down attack doctrine", its not that fast but have good front armor protection (130mm) which is excellent score in this weight value (22t) also i built prototype artillery system - its based on XF140-59 "Jaeger" chasis but everything else is still unknown
I suggest a little later in the afternoon for all the differing timezones people are in
I'm free all day, so whenever you guys want I'm down. Maybe we could aim before the European builders get stuck at night. Which would set us to put a six hour hold from my area, which means something like 2:00pm Central?
