So I downloaded cheat engine, used it a couple times on GTA V online, basically money hacking, manipulating the sell value of a specific item to custom number, (up to 170k.) With novice knowledge on the program, and seeing if anybody else in this forum knows how to work with cheat engine good, I want to see if I can use the same functions to manipulate the amount of money I can receive for selling an item to an NPC on a roleplay server.

yes. this is a known cheat exploit. cheat engine is and will always be the best cheat in gmod.
you can also change your wallet amount on darkrp servers so you have unlimited money.
ez cheat.

Enjoy your VAC ban pal

You don't get vac banned for using cheat engine..
I thought CE was a memory injection/editing tool? VAC checks for that sort of thing, I thought?
Most hacks are designed to edit memory to turn on CVARs that are usually off, adjust in-game data and other junk like that. If people have been banned for hacks that edit memory, wouldn't CE fall into that category too?
Well coded addons won't give you access to anything other than clientside communicated data, so unless you can manipulate the server data from your client, you can't really use CE to do anything special.
I have played gmod since around 2009-2010.
The Valve Anticheat system in Garry's mod is different to other source games.
This is because many aspects of its detection features are removed, VAC uses heuristic analysis of the games memory (to find unknown cheats) alongside blacklisted signature scanning to detect unlawful edits to the game to cheat.
In Garry's mod, a lot of the game is about editing and modifying the game, VAC's method of heuristic analysis has been turned off and any unknown signatures are NOT sent to VAC to be added to the ban list, This is because there are several dll files that have legitimate uses within garry's mod client such as gmcl_midi https://github.com/FPtje/gmcl_midi and many more
There's also tutorials on the Garry's mod wiki to make your own dll module https://wiki.garrysmod.com/page/Creating_Binary_Modules This wouldn't be allowed in ANY other source game because the modules when injected would be detected by VAC and if its blacklisted added to the next ban wave or sent to valve and then they will blacklist it EVEN if its legitimate, this can be seen in the GoldSrc game half life 1 in which a graphical mod called "paranoia" caused users to be VAC banned.
So for the most part VAC is switched OFF, because this is a sandbox game and actually the way the Lua interacts with the source engine it would detect that as a cheat as well so it CAN'T really be turned on. However it is still display "secure" and will kick non-steam users from playing. There are only 3 modules blacklisted on the gmods VAC list, These are all 6 year old cheats and Garry has no more intention to add any more (it's been 6 years no new cheat modules have been added and garry doesnt even work on gmod anymore)
these modules are:
gmcl_deco (no spread module)
baconbot.dll (multihack)
seth hack.
NOTHING else can get you VAC banned in gmod. Use cheat engine to all you like, Even using a memory editor won't get you banned such as cheat engine, hard to believe I know but it is true and this is a good thing because gmod is a sandbox game that allows people to edit it as they please.
I hope this helps explain why VAC is not active on gmod.•

I am really tired of people saying you can get VAC banned in gmod for dll injection and memory editing, They don't realise that the VAC in gmod is different to other source games and it's completely fine to do this and you will not get a valve anticheat ban. Cheat engine can be useful in some circumstances for finding pointers and many other uses.
