• Middle man service?

I have heard a lot of reports about coders getting scammed when it comes to coding for someone and that person never paying up. I was wondering if anyone would be interested in a "middle man" service? 1. How it would work 2. The person hires the coder, 3. The employer then gives the money to a third party to hold on to 4. The third party informs the coder that they have the money for the job 5. The coder completes the coding and records a video of the code functioning 6. Employer determines if it is satisfactory, if not why 7. Coder makes it "satisfactory" 8. Shows another video with changes 9. Recheck 10. The coder sends the code to the employer 11. Employer tests 12. Employer either says it is satisfactory or not 13. If not WHY 14. Can it be fixed 15. Middle man determines if the WHY is a valid reason to deny the money to the coder 16. If so can the coder fix the WHY 17. If they can not fix the why and employer wants to deny money (give money back to employer) 18. If they can fix the why go back to step 7 19. If the why is not a valid reason "i dont like it you no get money" Gives coder money Would be scam is avoided The only thing the middle man would get in return is *negotiable* 10% of the money being exchanged This would make it more profitable to have lots of people using his service then actually just taking the money and running If he is trusted and has lots of rep then he would get more customers and thus making his service trustworthy [editline]8th December 2015[/editline] It is just an idea and might make people more likely to hire someone for a job Tell me your thoughts
Something like this is a very good idea, imo but I'd be really weary in trusting a third party I didn't know to hold onto the money
That is where the middleman gets started though, small jobs to build rep until they slowly build a great reputation, everyone knows they can be trusted and eventually people trust this person with 100+$ jobs As for getting someone to start this up that IS trusted in the community.... I cant very well say i am trusted but id be willing to be one of the first "middle men" to be on a list of possible middle men. I personally would be afraid of charge backs for large jobs though directed AT the middle man
Reports about coders being scammed? What about the people who pay a coder for a script they never receive? What I always do is talk to a coder, take a look at past scripts/addons to determine the coder's legitimacy, then the coder makes the script and shows it to me on a test server. Then once I determine the script is finished and running as it should, I send the money to the coder and he sends the files, simple. Or better yet, pay half in advance and the remainder upon receiving the script.
the middle man protects both parties
I wouldn't mind trying to set up a service that does this but only for 1-5% mainly to pay for costs.
that sounds exactly like what im thinking, i was saying 10% simply bc it would have to start out small, not many people would use such a service
protip: don't give them the code until they pay home host a server to show them the finished product ingame but don't give them a single line until you see the money works every time, no middleman required
