How to add emotes to my gmod server and how to get people to download them?(hatschat2)

I already made an emote for my Gmod server and it worked only for me, other players who joined told me all they saw was a error texture.
I placed the png image in my Gmod materials folder. I'm not even sure if that's where you put the images

Where exactly do i place the images for emotes and how do i get people to download them?

I am using HatsChat2
