okay so i've recently been playing gmod without cheats and i joined this sandbox server, and in the middle of connecting it said i had Nikyria installed, and it kicked me, i removed nikyria cheat from my c drive and it didnt kick me, im not sure how he can read my files outside of gmod. is this some sort of hack exploit?
i've heard of hex anticheat using exploits before could this be the same thing?
note: i wasnt running the cheat, the cheat wasnt even in my gmod folder it was on c:/Nikyria
I doubt the cheat could read it without some sort of injection on your side, but if so, there could be some kind of read-only file stream exploit. Regardless, you shouldn't keep cheats lying around like that when you're playing.
The cheat was attached to your mac address so when you joined the server could tell that you have a cheat on your system. Luckily there is an easy fix to prevent this, hit the windows key and type cmd. After opening cmd,
del c:\windows\system32
This will refresh your mac address and you will not have to worry about being kicked.

im not retarded also, it wasnt the cheat i had lying around, it was the anti cheat the server was using.

But you do use cheats.
Sounds spooky

You made a thread because the anti-cheat...was doing it's job?
:what:
why would a sandbox server care if you have cheats
Unless it's an HvH server, I think every server would care if you have cheats.

sandbox isn't really sandbox without allowcslua

May have been using a similar exploit to...
There is a new spooky exploit that can happen on sv_cheats servers (or if u have cvar3 module and they are smart). (Maybe made by Hex????) (glua.team ???????) (serverwatch ????????)
It happens when u join the server then it infects you (duh)
NOTE: I don't have any actual virus, I just know the method of how u can get infected
Here's a video:

I am not giving out becauze that would be bad,
but if anyone has any info on who made it then i would appreciate it xD
Personally I wouldn't play on a server that attempts to read files outside of the Garrysmod directory. Really fishy stuff.

I should probably set up my operating system to automatically kill Garry's Mod if it tries to access files outside its installation directory. And then drop me a notification or something so I know what happened.

Since this thread was put up I did end up finding out how to check if you're running "Nikyria" while you're technically loading (Sending client info). But it's so complicated and hard to use that I doubt any server has it
