Internet Spikes up when I have many people on my server!

I run a starwarsrp server on my internet and I'm pretty poor so I can't afford a Deticated Server.

When 9 or 10 people join, or when someone joins my internet spikes up and everyone lags! How does this happen?

Your internet is too slow

Solution:
Buy dedicated host
Buy beter internet

Nothing is free kid end of story

Yeah, that's gonna happen. Every player connected to your server requires a set amount of bandwidth to send and receive the data necessary for them to play, and if your connection oversaturates it's going to lag everyone out. You need either better internet or a dedicated host to alleviate that.

Or, optionally, less slots on your server. This is the only free solution.

also we australians have absolute africa tier upload speeds, so unless you want to shell out thousands of dollars for a super highspeed business connection you're shit outta luck

i had an 8 core vmware esxi server sitting in my basement for years and my internet was 5:1 mbps.
that don't mean diddly squat

Basically, you'll need to reserve a half to a whole mbps for every client you're trying to serve, minimum. So for a 16 player server, I'd recommend an internet plan with 8-15 mbps upload bandwidth.
