Do you like squad-based shooters, where you can issue orders to your soldiers? Did you play any game from the Conflict, Ghost Recon or Brothers In Arms sagas?
Then you will like this gamemode.
In Combine Control you take the role of a Combine Squad commander. You select wich soldiers you want, and then you form squads and issue the orders. When you are prepared, you can start some minimodes to put your squad-managing abilities to test.
You can form up to two squads, plus selected Soldiers.
This is the menu you will use to handle your troops.

The top buttons are used to spawn your units and request help. Below them are three columns.
The first column is dedicated to the Alpha Squad, the second to any selected soldier, and the third one is for the Bravo Squad. As you see you can move them, make them hold position, regroup, disband the squad, and form the squad from the selected soldiers.
Because you can now select soldiers with E (USE), you know.
Detailed description of the orders:
- Hold Position: The squad/selected soldier(s) go to the area you are looking at and try to stay here no matter what happens.
- Follow Me: The squad/selected soldier(s) go to your back every 2 seconds, if they are far from you. They don't stop to fight enemies, their priority is to stay with you.
- Go Here: The squad/selected soldier(s) go to that position, but they may leave it if they find enemies.
- Regroup: The squad/selected soldier(s) go to you. Simple.
- Disband Alpha/Bravo: disband the squad, so the soldiers are now "loners".
- Unselect All: deselects any combine that was selected.
- Form Alpha/Bravo: Any soldiers you have selected are introduced into that squad.
- Select Loners: Selects any soldier that's not part of a squad.
Keys:
Q - Opens the squad command menu.
E - Selects the soldier you're looking at.
X - Highlights your soldiers, no matter where they are.
Commands:
!horde - start the horde minimode. It will spawn a wave of monsters. When you have finished killing them all, it will launch another, with more monsters than before. For now the monsters can be zombies or antlions, chosen randomly each time.
!stop - stop the horde minimode.
!zombies - start a zombie wave.
!antlions - start an antlion wave. After the fifth wave, Antlion Guards start spawning too.
!document - start the document minimode.
About the Minimodes:
Horde: When you start this minimode, you will have thirty seconds to prepare. Then, a lot of monsters will spawn and try to reach you and your units.
If you kill them all, you will have another thirty seconds to prepare again, only to be attacked again by monsters. Every wave has more monsters, and certain thresholds will enable harder enemies (Like Antlion Guards after the fifth wave).
If you have Half Life Renaissance installed and enabled, you can use !hlrenaissance1, !hlrenaissance2, !hlrenaissance3 and !hlrenaissanceboss to spawn enemies from that addon.
Find The Document: This gamemode premise is simple. You have to find a paperclip. The gamemode looks for tables and logical places in the map to put the paperclip. When he finds enough, it will place it there.
Your mision is to find the paperclip while the zombies try to kill you all.
You cannot spawn units while inside the minimodes, with the exception of the Horde's "preparation time".
About the Combine:
- Every combine regenerates 1 health every 2 seconds when they are not in combat.
- Both Squads share information about their respective enemies, lone soldiers do not.
Score:
- I'm using the "frags" (default scoreboard) as the score for now.
- You gain frags for every thing your soldiers kill.
- Every time a combine from your squad is killed, you lose 50 points.
The (shitty) HUD:
- You can now know more details about a soldier by aiming at him.
- You can know about the state of the Squads (following you/holding position) at the bottom of your screen.
- Q opens the squad menu.
Options:
You can configure some things.

The Keys aren't configurable for now, the option is a placeholder.
Addons:
If you have Half Life Renaissance installed and enabled, you can use !hlrenaissance1, !hlrenaissance2, !hlrenaissance3 and !hlrenaissanceboss to spawn enemies from that addon.
If you have Combine Beta SNPCs, you can spawn them by saying !assassin and !cremator.
Spawn them first, before any other combine. Otherwise they will be enemies.
Maps supported:
Every map that has a nodegraph works, and this addon comes with a lot of nodegraphs i've created for The Hunt, my other gamemode. However, the maps from this collection have a custom config, made by me, wich sets custom spawns for the enemies, so they don't pop out of the middle of the street, but appear from the corners of the map and other suitable places.
Short-term plans:
[del]- Add the Combine Sniper and Hunter to the list of spawnable combine.[/del] Done.
[del]- Add some weapon packs for the combine and rebels.[/del] Done.
[del]- Add some NPC pack for the enemy waves.[/del] Done.
[del]- Add some Combine NPCs from the workshop.[/del] Done.
[del]- Add an option for the player loadout .[/del] Done.
[del]- Fix the kill notice things. You know, NPCs involved, weapons used. [/del] Done.
Long-term/maybe plans:
- Add a Rebel squad controlled by another player on the rebel faction.
[del]- Add the Helicopter and Gunship, controllable by orders too.[/del] Done.
[del]- Add a way for players to change the models of the Combine and use models from the workshop, so they can play as other factions.[/del] Done.
Little details you might like to know:
- The combine boots make a sound when the soldiers run. Your boots do it too.
- The combine have some voicelines implemented to make the game less... silent. They will report that everything is clear when you select them, respond to your orders and warn you when they are badly hurt.
- You emit some voicelines too. All of them from HL2's files.
- Every time a wave is spawned, it has more enemies in it.
- Antlions kill Combine in one hit, it's hardcoded into the game. So beware.
- You can play this with your friends. I've coded it in a way that your squads won't interfiere with other player's squads. I think.
Bugs
- Rebels crash the game for now, so I've removed them from the Addon until I fix them.

---------------
I hope you people enjoy this gamemode. For now it's pretty basic, but like what happened to The Hunt, it will grow with time.
Any opinions or suggestions are appreciated!
WOW this looks really interesting would be cool if you could change player models to those from DOD's
you know that there already is a gamemode named combine control out there right?
you know that there already is a gamemode named combine control out there right?
It's some crappy HL2RP edit iirc.
edit: ok then.
Great, looks like the most noticeable thing about this gamemode is that it shares name with another one! :v:
And, nope, I didn't know, otherwise I wouldn't have called it Combine Control.
But don't worry, I don't care about the name, but the features. I'll change it.
And yeah, why not. There will be an option to change playermodels too.

thanks
Definitely wouldn't have made this for some crappy HL2RP edit.

Fixing the death notices and adding the HL2 Beta Combine SNPCs to the list of commandable units. I'll update it soon.
It will now be called "Combine Squad Survival". No popular gamemodes with that name, right?
[editline]7th April 2015[/editline]
Workshop addon updated. Now you can use the Combine SNPCs if you have that addon installed, using !assassin and !cremator commands.
You can also let the Combine and Rebels use NPC Weapon Pack 2, and control how far a combine can go before being forced to come back to the position you told him to hold. 256 game units are almost 5 meters, so do the math and configure it to your liking.
All these options can be enabled here.

*(Well actually, to be honest, I did join a server at one point that really was running an edit of HL2RP (but renamed Combine Control (not yours)) which was the basis for my original comment. No hard feelings?)
I see you all are so interested in the gamemode, so I've updated it to support Hunters, the Zombine and Antlion Workers.
Say !hunter and it will spawn.
Any running servers with this atm?
No need for servers, in fact i've been playing with friends and this gamemode works way better on Singleplayer.
Anyway, no, no servers that I know of.
You mean www.combinecontrol.com ? ...
Find other name for your the gamemode.
Thanks for the kindness and comprehension about the gamemode name issue. You will love to know that I changed it yesterday.
But I didn't noticed that I didn't change this thread's name, thank you for pointing it out with such respect.
Pretty impressed with your interest about the gamemode, people. I have more feedback than I asked for.
I've been testing it on multiplayer, with more people. It works, but it's fairly clear that it needs some sort of combine restriction for each player, and a way to recognice your own soldiers and differentiate them from your friend's soldiers. I'll work on that.

I believe you are confusing a community name with a gamemode.

i think a good limit would be around 6 in multiplayer, if you were join a 24 player server there would be a total of 144 entities running around and on a small map that would be cramped,, as for recognising ur bots you could do a coloured hollogram above there heads
I like to make these limits configurable, so there will be an option to change it.
But yeah, by default, people should be only able to spawn 6 combine per player, plus a global limit of, lets say, 30. On singleplayer, the limit wouldn't apply.
I will also place halos on the player controlled combine. Each player will be able to see, from all the server soldiers, what soldiers are theirs.

How about find another name for your community. The OP did nothing wrong but all over your community forums I keep finding stuff I made or wrote that's been plagarized from me.
It seems that vehicles arent the only thing that can get wrecked.
I've been trying to bring the combine HunterChopper to life again. I really like helicopters.
This is what I've achieved.
[VID]http://puu.sh/h6NMM.webm[/VID]
Sadly the current system is limited to one helicopter, but i'm sure i will be able to manage multiple helis soon.
[VID]http://puu.sh/h7hSe.webm[/VID]
NPC:SetKeyValue( "waitingtorappel", 1 )
NPC:Fire("BeginRappel","",0)
I'm still thinking how I can use this.
At least now the combine won't appear from nowhere when you spawn them... they will appear from above you
[VID]http://puu.sh/h7tUO.webm[/VID]
I know, I know, I'll stop playing around and push an update.
First let me tune all these new things so they work properly.
As you may guessed, the dropship is there to provide a credible way to get more soldiers.
What if the map is indoors, do you ask?
I'll be honest, I don't know the answer yet
[editline]9th April 2015[/editline]
Updated.
You can now spawn:
- !dropship: The combine Dropship. It has a combine container, you can make it deploy four soldiers by typing !deploysoldiers, or mines by !deploymines.
- !helicopter: The combine Hunter Chopper.
You can make them dissapear by typing !helidismiss.
They work like the soldiers, select them and tell them where to move.
You are limited to only one air unit, for now.
- !hunter: From EP2. You need to enable them in the gamemode options.
- !turret: a floor turret.
- !rollermine
- !camera: The Combine Ceiling Cameras/Turrets.
Rebels fear both turrets, i'm working on fixing it.
Running into some issues with the Cremator. Looks like it has a built in "make everyone hate me" function, and the Sniper is influenced by that.
But I've created a menu for the spawns.
It looks like the outlines enabled by default wasn't a good idea.
A lot of people have been having framerate issues because the outlines/halos. I've updated the gamemode, it's a dirty update, but will do the trick until tonight, when I can finish it.
Make sure the orders key is 27 and the highlight key is 34.
You can now highlight your people with X.
Man, this looks awesome. Can't wait to try it. I'd love to help develop it on github when you have the repo up.
Here you have it.
I would be happy to recieve any kind of help!
Alright, I think everything works now. Time to update.
Features:
- The orders menu has now multiple buttons to spawn all the combine you need.
- You can now highlight your units by pressing X (default).
- You can now select which key opens the order menu and the unit highlight. Use this if you want to change these values.
- Its now possible to change the rate at which the game will "think". This affects all the "follow me" and "Hold Position" commands. Basically controls how often the game forces the soldiers to move where they should be (if they are far enough). The lower the value, the higher command precission and the higher performance hit.
- If you die, you can spectate by using left click. You can still control your units in this state, and the game changes a little, as you are basically playing it from a top-down perspective.
Use right click to respawn.
I haven't been able to fix the Cremator and Assassin thing. But they don't cause problems if spawned before other units, so here's that.
Updated again.
- The mortars now fire five mortars around the area you selected.
- You can now select the soldiers' model in the multiplayer menu.
I need ideas about the Combine Prison Guard. I don't know wich weapon give him, the crossbow is fine but doesn't really fit with the combine.
I don't know what role give him.
Unless you people like to have it as a mobile sniper, like it's now.
Now I know why the Rebels crash the game.
For some reason, when one spawns, it also creates:
npc_combine_s
npc_metropolice
npc_hunter
npc_rollermine
npc_helicopter
npc_combinegunship
npc_manhack
npc_turret_floor
npc_turret_ceiling
npc_combinedropship
npc_sniper
npc_citizen
weapon_crossbow
Why? No idea. But doing print(entity:GetClass()) on the GM:OnEntityCreated(entity) function shows that.
Updated.
I've started coding some minimodes, you can now say !document to enter "Find The Document" minimode, in which the game spawns a paperclip somewhere and you have to find it while zombies try to kill you all.
When you find it, you gain 50 points (frags).
The Horde mode is a wave-bases minimode. Waves of monsters (Antlions, zombies) spawn and you have to defend yourself and kill them all. You have 30 seconds between each wave to spawn your people and prepare for the next wave.
You cannot spawn combine while you are inside the Find The Document or Horde minimodes, and the mortar command can only be used once every 100 seconds.
The rebels are out of the ecuation untill I fix them.
If you have some ideas for minimodes or missions, post it! I don't have much, besides the typical (monsters) player vs player (combine) mode.
I've rewritten the OP, to cover all the current features of this gamemode, such as the Half Life Renaissance implementation.
I'll also make a "Best maps to play this" collection soon. There are some really fitting maps.
