Hey guys, I was seriously looking into making some Garry'sMod movies, but the thing is, I'm not quite sure what program I would use, I'd like a nice one with good features like green screen. Some reputable machinima makers on youtube mention that they used sony vegas pro 9 which actually costs something like $600! Is there maybe a demo version of it that doesn't cost but still has some good features? I'm not sure how the People that claimed they've used that got a copy, but If anyone has any ideas of where to look for a good editor I would GREATLY appreciate any help! Thanks!

But the top dollar programs aren't always the best. Look for an open source editor. Here is a list of various free and shareware video editors.
I use Sony Vegas... 8? It doesn't have all the awesome features of the newer versions, but it was a fraction of the price, and is more than enough to get you by (lots of effects, green screen capability, all sorts of cool stuff you can do once you get used to it). If you're really strapped for cash, you might want to listen to Rosar0980. Open source programs have less support (hard to find tutorials, not always compatible with all files, etc) but they're free and a hell of a lot better than Windows Movie Maker.
How is it that you got a copy of sony vegas though? did you buy a full version? or do you know if there's actually a demo version? I went to the Sony website and found this page under Downloads/Trials and Demos/vegas/vegas pro. Could this possible be a free demo that has the neccessary features? here's the page: http://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/download/trials/vegaspro
