"I mean it now, boy," the Salesman said, pulling the last of his rifle rounds out of one of the many pockets of his rucksack. "If you thought I'd just up and leave after the third day without my mask, you're dead wrong. I'm a man of principle, and what's mine shall ever be mine, until I've decided it isn't."
The Deku boy only sighed, and fixed his pipes a little closer to his chest-never in all his travels had he been forced to make a musical instrument into a weapon. He climbed onto the motorcycle after that, and found his feet couldn't reach the footrests.
The Salesman went on, not caring whether he was heard or not. "Oh, I know what you're thinking. The moon has dropped, the dead have risen, and all this man can think of is a mask?" He climbed into the sidecar and grabbed the boy's shoulder. "But it's more than that, lad. So much more." He started to click the rounds into his rifle. "You people just don't understand. I've seen empires crumble in my time, men of power made to play bitch to the wearisome-and let's say I'm a man of power, shall we? I've walked all the wide worlds the goddesses have made, and let me tell you, the only thing-the only damn thing that sticks, is principle. So say I don't have my priorities straight. Whether you like it or not, we're going to fetch my mask. Even if we have to repeat this a thousand times, we're going to fetch my damned mask."
The Deku boy snorted, a small bubble bouncing out of his snout. He clicked the engine on, and the lights flared up. At the mouth of the grotto the ReDeads turned their masked faces to the sound.
The Salesman went on, no sign of nervousness on his face. "I even know about your exploits, lad. Your little bout with the Mandrag Ganon. Of course, you'd remember me. I had that shop down on the corner, not too far from the road to the castle. Don't pretend to me that that was anything but principle. Folk like you and I could've made a fortune under a man like that."
The boy only stared at the man. The ReDeads began shuffling toward the motorcycle.
The Salesman sighed. "Ah, what's the use. It's like my mother told me, where there's a meeting a parting must follow. Let me tell you, lad-I eagerly await our parting. Just let it not be too soon, and not in death."
The boy revved the engine, and the motorcycle roared down the grotto, to face legions of the ReDead.
