Hello again folks, been a while since I last made anything with gmod. Lord knows why, but I had the urge to start editing again, so here's a concept test I did to get back into the swing of things and to test some ideas for a possible comic.
Personal log, Sergeant Donovan, A. Entry #359, 11/01/3997, 01:55pm Made landfall on Alpha Centaurai a couple of hours ago, no signs of life. The tropical rainforests have been replaced with barren deserts, the cities nothing but rubble. Bringing down a science team to investigate. Entry #360, 11/01/3997, 05:24pm The science team has detected life forms not far from the ruins of New London, and guess who's being sent to investigate. We've been given a 'raider to take us out there, so it shouldn't take too long. They say there aren't any human life signs left on the planet, but I can't shake the feeling we're being watched. Entry #361, 11/01/3997, 06:01pm We've had to abandon our transport, the strange alien spires have got to dense to continue. The science team are saying these are the life forms we're out here to find. Even the ground seems alive out here, keeps on moving under our feet. We're entering the alien vegatation now, will report once we have some more information. Entry #362, 11/01/3997, 06:05pm We are not alone.
Before anyone cries about it being too big, right click and click view image to see it in your screen size. Couldn't get the shadows for the ground to work properly, so decided to just leave them out, which makes the feet look a tad out of place. Boo hoo. Comments would be appreciated.
Silly buggers walked RIGHT into the alien's mouth...
neat
Who the hell are you. Oh Is that pyren? He looks a bit transparent. Like a ghost.
Pretty good, you are like another Ben Wolfe, but slightly better
Cool posing, models and picture. The characters could do with some shading though to bring them to life.
Pretty good.
hes staring at the hev suits like a pedophiler
Hm the more I look at it, the more the characters look really cartoony and pasted on, partly because of the lack of shadows. Was this intentional?
Hello again folks, been a while since I last made anything with gmod
But not forgotten it seems. Nice work.
The eyes that are edited on look really copy pasted, but the posing is pretty awesome. And I like big pictures, so I have no problem with that.
The picture's cool, and my request again....Could anyone upload Lost Planet models again?
PYREN! <3 I think the HEV helmet could have used a bit of editing. It just looks a bit out of place. But other then that, cool pic.
my man pyren
Thanks for ze comments my friends, much appreciated.
Who the hell are you. Oh Is that pyren? He looks a bit transparent. Like a ghost.
Don't quote me on this, but i think it actually IS a ghost. We should probably call someone about that... But other then that, cool pic.
<3 I'll admit it, I got kinda lazy by the time I got to the HEV guys. My B.
The characters could do with some shading though to bring them to life.
Will try more of that next time. No promises though, I get kinda lazy.
Hm the more I look at it, the more the characters look really cartoony and pasted on, partly because of the lack of shadows. Was this intentional?
Totally. <_< In truth, no, I'm still a bit out of touch with this whole editing lark and kinda messed up with that. And good lord, I just noticed I typo'd team to 'time' in the title. Now I feel like a muppet.
The HEV suits look out of place.
Woah, it's been a while since I've seen you. Good work. You haven't lost the touch.
Pretty good, you are like another Ben Wolfe, but slightly better
Ouch lol. Nah, it's looks good Pyren, good writing too.
I've read the introduction log and I must say that Alpha Centauri is the most overused name in sci-fi..
I'm not sure how they could miss the giant-ass Tyranid behind them.
seriously, if you want to do rimlighting just phong your character models and throw some lamps behind them. i HATE seeing people do that shitty shazbot-style editing. it doesn't look good, ever, and makes everything look like the new-age hipster comic book coloring format (gradients and shit instead of static color). it's disgusting. in fact, you don't even need to use phong; just use a lamp. jeez. i'm just giving you a word of advice, bro; you're spending too much time on isolating characters and whatnot when you could get an even more natural looking effect in just a couple of seconds ingame. use this thread as a guide. don't make the same mistake again.
Pretty good, you are like another Ben Wolfe, but slightly better
ben wolfe knows how to make his pictures appealing. all this guy does is use the same old 2006 PHW-elitist/moron editing style that's as crappy as SHEF ever was.
Models are cool, but ground needs shadows like you said.
lol Alpha Centauri is a star how the fuck could they land on it without being vapourized?
