Hi all, today I will be showing you how to get that awesome cloak engaged effect in GIMP. (This tutorial is for N00BS so they can stop asking how to get that effect :P)
[b]1.[/b] [i]Pose your picture[/i]
You can use this effect on any model, but the Crysis dude works best, get it here: [url]http://www.facepunch.com/threads/1081204-Crysis-2-dudes[/url]
Now pose your model, any pose will work (Im posing crappy cause this is just a tutorial :D)
Now that you have posed your model, put your crosshair directly on your dude, this is important because you will be changing your guys material later. Take a screenshot of your pose. Now, without moving your cursor, press Q, select the material tool and select the any transparent like material, the one for the standard cloak effect is the frosted glass material.
Click on your dude to make him cloaky, and take another screenshot. Remember, do all this without moving the camera.
[b]2.[/b] [i]GIMPING[/i]
Now, open up both pics in GIMP. At the cloak one go to Select -> All. Then go to Edit -> Copy. Then got to the one without cloak and Edit -> Paste As -> New layer. Now you have two layers, make sure the one without cloak is above the cloak one. Right Click the original one in the Layers dialog and choose Add Layer Mask. In the Add layer Mask Dialog, make sure White (Full Opacity) is selected. Now your layers dialog should looks like this:

Now click on the Blend tool [img]http://www1.picturepush.com/photo/a/5513639/img/5513639.jpeg[/img] In tool options, make sure FG to BG (RGB) is selected. Now click and drag with left mouse button where you want the cloak to start and where you want it to end.

You could probably smooth it out, but yeah.
