This is a comic project I've been working on now for about 3 weeks or so. This is my first GMod release of any kind, except for a couple of concept poses in January that I ultimately scrapped. I am still very new to GMod and posing in general and my lack of experience should be obvious to more veteran posers in these pages. I've never made a comic before in any capacity and had to learn how to use photoshop to get this done.
The comic is called A.C.E.R, which stands for 'Agency for the Control of Extra-dimensional Rogues' (It's an odd mouthful, I know) and stars a character named Karl who works for said agency as an enforcer of sorts. What makes this story interesting is that the world in which Karl inhabits is filled with characters from various video games and it's his job to make sure they behave while they visit and to act with force if they become aggressive (Or go Rogue as it's referred). This first issue is mostly an introduction to the characters and their relationships to one another, but the series as a whole is intended to be very action-oriented with light humour on occassion.
When I started this project I didn't know how to do layouts and I was (And still am) practicing posing, so the quality of the comic gets better as it goes along. I got a lot of photoshop assistance and critique from Mythos, so I want to start by thanking him for his invaluable assistance. Also I want to elaborate that I understand crossover material isn't an original concept and carries with it certain... expectations. I really hope to do the idea justice with this comic.

Again, this is my first GMod release (Of any kind) so I'm very eager to hear any thoughts or critique on the comic. I intend to make more of this, so any advice or comments will help to make future content better quality. If you read it, thankyou, I wholeheartedly appreciate your interest and hope you enjoyed it!
EDIT: I'm compiling a list of credits for this, 'cause I used a lot of different assets.
If Max Payne goes rouge they're in deep shit.
This is pretty good. What are the numbers in the corners for?
If Max Payne goes rouge they're in deep shit.
Hah, ain't that the truth.
This is pretty good. What are the numbers in the corners for?
Thanks! They're page numbers. I guess it's not as obvious when it's laid out like this.
This is great, looking forward to seeing more from you.
This is great, looking forward to seeing more from you.
Thankyou! I appreciate the encouragement!
Mythos mentioned that you had something great cooking, never thought I'd see it so soon.
Really, I could have kept going and made twice as many pages but I didn't want to get carried away without taking the opportunity to get some kind of feedback. 16 pages is enough I think for people to get a feel for where I am and how I can improve. In fact you demonstrated that perfectly with your points there, which I'm very grateful for. I'll be keeping your critique in mind when I start posing the next chapter, thankyou very much!
Your poses are awkward occasionally, but the layouts and such are solid. I look forward to more of your stuff.
Also, fingerpose every goddamn hand people are gonna see. I don't care if it's just sitting at the guy's side, fingerpose it. The default hand sticks out like a sore thumb, especially when it's repeated many many times over the course of a comic.
Despite there only being a single chapter, I found the world remarkably well established. Looking forward to more.
Great work! This loos very promising.
I might have to work on my crossover comic soon, but I've got another one I'm going to do for practice.
Excellent job! I vote for you to keep going with it.
Damn, this is good! The only thing I noticed really was your face posing, work on that and it'll be awesome! Look foward to seeing more.
Holy shit that's amazing!
Also, fuck you. You've set the standard so high that I'll never be able to compete with this :v:
What is the map on page 9-12?
BTW it is very nice for the first comic, even better than what I expected.

Thankyou for your feedback! I've some experience with posing by this point, but on occassion I still struggle with certain ragdolls and positions. So it's totally understandable some may look awkward. I'm constantly trying to better myself in that department. I've seen the fingerposing criticism a few times before, but I never realised it was such an important point. I'll definitely take this onboard though and pose every visible hand in future.
What is the map on page 9-12?
That map is fy_industrial_day and I believe I got it from Gamebanana.
I want to thank everyone for your awesome encouragement (I will be taking all your feedback seriously), it means a lot after finishing something like this. It's not a mammoth project by any means, but I had to learn a lot before I was done and I've still got a long way to go so your support makes all the difference. Really, thankyou.
I like the idea of rogue protagonists, very creative! I look forward on seeing more.
I came in here expecting some sort of typical "HALO MEETS COD MEETS L4D EPIC" crossover. I'm astonished at your quality, and your content. You've got something on your hands that is unlike anything else, something unique, something with potential. Keep up with this, I'm in love with the story.
Really impressive. After the first few panels (3 pages) I was worried the layout would stay boring the way through, but you actually did a good job after that.
I would thank you for the kind references to my "help" (even though, as we both know, it was very minimal and not deserving of a reference to my username in bold letters - emphasis for humor, please laugh), but I'd rather thank you for the excellency that you have delivered.
Seriously, this is the best GMod comic I've seen since... what, 2007? No offense to all the other writers who put so much effort into their work, but this is something else. This is a combination of pure skill with editing (acquired in only three weeks!), fantastic talent for writing and incredible ingenuity. From the little I'd seen of the comic I expected greatness, but I did not expect excellency. The minimal kinks I see are stuff you'll definitely deal with easily as you gain experience, but it's already at such a level of quality that it's really easy to ignore. You're a newbie (no offense) and this is only your first, but you're already making all my efforts in the past five years look like passable excuses for comics. And I couldn't be happier about that.
I haven't said much of the series itself yet, so I will: it's great. Excellent concept and amazing writing. In one issue you've managed to really nail down the personalities of the protagonists, the whole concept and introduce a sweet mystery. It's like a great TV pilot, really. Great job.
I do realize I'm suspect of partiality since I arguably lent a hand - and I can't stress enough that my involvement was minimal -, but my opinion is honest: this is the best GMod comic I've read in a long while. You don't just have potential, you are, right now, one of the best, and this is only your first attempt. Keep it up, I can't wait to see more!
Really impressive for your first comic. You got tallent.
Also, as a side note, it's nice that people are still making comics.
Love to see more of this :D
proper old-style comic. i like it.
proper old-style comic. i like it.
Just an aside: one of these days, someone will have to tell me what the "new-style" is. :v:

overedited pap stuffed with injokes and unnecessary padding instead of actual plot-based/webcomic/comic-book style works with Anime Ace 2.
overedited pap stuffed with injokes and unnecessary padding instead of actual plot-based/webcomic/comic-book style works with Anime Ace 2.
A-ha! This doesn't use Anime Ace 2, therefore it is not old-style! Your logic is WRONG!
I'm just kidding, of course. Now I feel good with being called "old-school", thanks.
First time in years that I log into facepunch, only to read this very neat comic. Keep it up, my good man!
I'm really overwhelmed with the positive comments for my comic. I was making this more to see if I could, and have an outlet for some creativity, I wasn't even convinced I was going to upload it. I actually expected a lot of criticism because of some sloppy mistakes I made (Which I would have been totally fine with assuming it was useful criticism). It's really heartening to see people taking an interest in the storyline and the characters. I've said it before and I'll say it again - everything you folks mention I do listen to and it helps me get better. Your support has been a strong inspiration. I'm really excited to keep it going.
I'm really excited to keep it going.
Then keep going! Don't be like that one idiot who keeps postponing the beginning of the process and so takes ages to do anything. You know, me.
Also, I'm a dork for organizational hierarchies and the like, so I wish you'd do a chart or something on the side to explain how A.C.E.R. works.
That was cool, I wouldn't mind reading some more.
Really well done, looking forward to the sequel.

Describes me perfectly........
I don't read many comics, but this is easily one of my favorites.
