What exactly am I seeing on that tree?

It's pretty obvious what this is.
Doctor Squigglyface was dropped from a plane to infiltrate the base of the evil Phonefaggots when a freak windstorm blew him and his parachute onto an island outside the base. The Phonefaggots detected him and moved away, and Squigglyface was ordered to return to base.
But he can't swim.
Anyway, it's koo'.
