Posing needs some work and the scene is empty. Lighting's fine, if not too wide.

The way the guy is holding the rifle looks slightly uncomfortable, like he's not using his arms to support the rifle and all the weight is going onto his left wrist which would probably hurt a little. Generally the stock should be resting somewhere near the elbow or the shoulder, not the bicep.
I don't think it's necessary to crop out the sides, the empty composition contributes to the somber atmosphere imo.
That's a really bright light for a mine, you can even see the same one behind it, and it's a lot more dim. A little too bright I think.
