A special treat for all of you! I've re-done Episode I (was originally created in early 2007) and I have decided that in anticipation for the fourth installment in the series, I'll release all episodes consecutively so that everyone can get up to date with what is happening in the series thus far. So many questions still remain and plenty of twists are ahead! There is an entire Beyond Borders lore that I have created out of the mythos of HL2, drawing connections from several other comics aswell (Apostasy/Running on Empty/Third Reborn) and I hope you enjoy the fiction as much as I do creating it. Warning: These are THREE LARGE/LONG EPISODES. THEY WILL MOST LIKELY RAPE YOUR INTERNET. I highly suggest you give it time to load so sit back, grab a beer or something to munch on because it'll take some time. It is also important to note that Episode I IS a REDUX. Episode's II and III are not. So you WILL notice a shift in style and fonts and what not. Hopefully it won't be too distracting but don't think the series fluctuates this much.
*What is "Beyond Borders"?

Beyond Borders is a story about a man, Mark, who dreams of a life away from Combine oppression. He believes that there is something out of the city, beyond it's borders, just waiting to be found and he wants to find it. What would have started as a simple journey turns into a harrowing adventure in which Mark encounters many friends and foes. Love, action, drama and adventure-Beyond Borders has it all! As Mark progresses to his ultimate goal of reaching the coast, he begins to learn that there are some things in life more important than one's own wants and needs and soon Mark is left measuring the weight of his devotion to others v.s his personal need to escape. Can one man truly make a difference?
If there are any problems with the pictures (red x's) just tell me and I'll try to fix it up ASAP! I hope you enjoy the show. A lot of effort has been put into these over the years and hopefully it pays off. Have fun! Not that you can tell or that I really do care but the p90 is clipping in the picture.
Fuck. Yes.
I am utterly speechless (in a good way)
This deserves more comments. I look forward to episode four.
Whaaaaaat. I never thought Barney could be evil...And if he died there how did he help Gordon in EP1? Is this some alternate universe?
:golfclap:
It was all good except for the fact that I couldn't take seriously Barney as a bad character... But excellent editing like usual.
Awesome work, you always make HQ stuff.
Dayuuuuum this is from a looong time ago. I remember this, glad you're working on it again.
All his friend diiiiieeeeee! :( I remember this comic, very nice.
We need more comics like this.
That was a very nice comic, although there is some bad spelling in some frame but not most of them.
Excited for part 4.
Well this is a blast from the past. Quality comic making. My only complaints would be some very noticeable bad grammar and spelling here and there, and sometimes the writing is very cliché. Apart from that, it's great, looking forward to part four.
I love how many oldies read this and commented, makes me feel all warm and tingly inside. :tiphat:

Only then will I actually bother to go back through the series (or at least episodes II and III as of late) and re-work dialogue. Until then it'll probably be hit and miss for a while cause you'll always bug me for grammar and spelling :v:
I love how many oldies read this and commented, makes me feel all warm and tingly inside. :tiphat:
I will bring us all together with "decent" comics!
It was all good except for the fact that I couldn't take seriously Barney as a bad character... HL2's background and story serve as the mere backdrop to this comic to designate a time and place. Note that I didn't really use the Barney Calhoun. There's a reason why I use FakeFactory's one instead of the default one. It's an alternate "reality" I guess you could say. One where Gordon or the events in HL2 do not exist.

Ah, This one Cept' in that one Gordon existed and the events of hl2 did take place, but it's after all that getting humanity back on track or something. Also did you take a look at these?

Death (no secret to him at least) that he serves as a primary means of inspiration. Although I'm not sure EXACTLY the extent his comics inspire me, heh. Yes I have viewed these. I'm considering them as we speak.
I made a similar comment about it when you first posted these, didn't I...?
Yes. Mind you, however, it does not go unnoticed.
Yes. Mind you, however, it does not go unnoticed.
How splendid. But as I previously said it is still a very good comic.
Ah, Riley's quality comics again, awesome.
I remember this from way back when.
Just finished the first episode. This is fucking great, Jim. :D
Wait a minute... Barney? City 17? Evil? Dead?! TIME PARADOX!
I love this comic, a lot of effort put into it, so much emotion. I can't wait to see more of this. We need more comics like this.
This is amazing. So unexpecting. You did a really great job. I hope to see more soon.
This is how a comic should be :D
Why why??? I tried 10 times to load that page. It stops half way trough. I have a bloody 16 MBit connection. This should not be happening. Is no logic to it.
Masterpiece
