I believe Gman is all in Gordon Freeman's mind and is a split personality. Gordon's split personality tells him what to do. Plus if you take apart Gordon's name you can distinctly spell Gman out of it.

Gman isn't an official name for him. Fans of the game used that name because he looked like a Government Man, or "G-Man".

That's not entirely true, his model was called Gman in the first Half-Life if I remember correctly.

Just because the model is named something doesn't mean it's the same thing in the story. Take the Chell case for example. She's not a character, Valve said it was supposed to be you, not a name they pull from the model files.

Well let's put it this way when your typing up scripts would you rather type anonymousguyinsuit.mdl or gman.mdl :a2m:
They named it Gman because they planned out the whole Half-Life story and then players found the model name and everyone calls him Gman now...but valve thinks that we don't know Gman could be Gordon Freeman's split personality O.o
