The ground texture is ugly and low-res and the tree is pretty ugly too. Background looks fine, and he looks like he's going to drop the knife, his fingers aren't wrapped around it much.
So it's official, OP has never seen a person in real life.

Light is ok though.
His pose is unnatural, go look at photos of people standing in a similar pose (or try it yourself) and try replicate that. That's all the advice I'm giving you, because it would take me hours to explain the finer nuances of posing and aside from not having the time, I doubt even that would help much.
Trying poses yourself is usually a huge help, a lot of animators actually do so when working on character anims for games.
Most people stand with their legs somewhat apart. His hand is also atrocious, use nocollide on the knife and his hands, because you made it obvious that you just made it so the knife slides into the, for the lack of a better term, "No collision zone" in between the the 2 sides of his hand. Also, you should pick a map with a better tree model than that "Thing".

For the stand pose just make it look more natural, spread the legs a bit.

I DID use nocollide on the knife
And I'll use a better map next time
