blurring background is to create a focus point and create depth, although i agree it's a little bit heavy. it works pretty well anyway, i think.

The heavy blur along with the bloomy visuals really makes the whole picture's atmosphere seem dreamlike, surreal and strangely calm. It looks truly neat to me and is a nice change from the usual action poses.
