all you need to do is search for tutorials on youtube
Trial and error will teach you a lot. Everyone had faced it before.
what you need to do first is master in-game editing. i've found it to give generally nicer results coupled with minimal photoshop editing than just photoshop editing.

But Zerax is right, photoshop will only do so much if you don't set up a good scene ingame first.
