I coded a quick script that blackens maps and virtually turns every map into gm_black. It gives you the opportunity to control lighting yourself. You can download it here. Extract to addons folder! In console, type 'blackify' or 'unblackify' to turn the script on or off. It takes a second to respond. Before capturing your image, be sure to turn the script off and back on to fix possible rendering inconsistencies. Here's an example from gm_bigcity with and without fog: [T]https://picload.org/image/rdgorwcr/20160912190520_1.jpg[/T] [T]https://picload.org/image/rdgorpow/20160912184742_1.jpg[/T] [T]https://picload.org/image/rdgorpoi/20160912184748_1.jpg[/T] Some disclaimers: As you can see the skybox and the benches to the left aren't affected. This is because of their built in-map shader and I couldn't find a way to get around it. This issue will apply to probably most map entities, depending on how the mapper stitched them in. Additionally, lights will not work. Projected texture based lights (lamps, softlamps) etc will work. Not my choice, I'm limited by Source. All in all, this isn't conventional in any way, gm_black is preferred, and this script should only be used if you're really dying to pose on a certain map where you want to override its lighting!
OHYES JESUS MAMA ITS HERE seriously OHFUCKINGHELL yes i love you
Yes, I will definitely use this. Awesome work!
what the fuck how did you guys do it, i didnt think it was possible to delete light sources in maps like that outside of sfm
He's not deleting lights, or even turning them off as far as I can tell. It seems like he's not letting light sources cast light during the render operation. Correct me if I'm wrong. Regardless, this is great stuff!
niceman..
