I just thought of this, and found out I needed it, a few days ago. I was wondering if there was a lua script for a third person point of view. Something like what you see when you play Shadow the Hedgehog. If you can help, please tell me here.
I saw that, but it is only shoulder view. I needed something like where you could see all of your player model, and other surroundings, like I mentioned earlier, it needs to be very similar to the view on Shadow the Hedgehog, or if you haven't played that game, then like Spyro, or Super Mario Galaxy.
open your console and type in sv_cheats 1. then type in "thirdperson" and it gives you a nice thirdperson veiw.
You could probably just edit the over the shoulder lua, I'm sure theres something in there that defines where the camera is relative to the player.

How could I edit the lua?
Sorry guys for all of the noob questions, but I'm new with this stuff, and I needed this for a video, and just that I'm not use to first person games...

go to "options" then in the keyboard tab, "click the advanced", and then click "enable developer console". Then, whenever you press the "~" key, the console will show up. you type what I said into the little line at the bottom.
Thanks man, I needed that, cause I just got a Metroid Prime Visor, and now I can use it. And now I can get normal third person, I think.

Man, I just tried the third person view, and it looks awesome! And now, I just got that hat maker thing, and I put a lot of awesome armor on sonic and shadow. I'm going to make a thread in the screenshots forum for the armor pictures.

Go to garrysmod\garrysmod\cfg, open config.cfg with Notepad or whatever can edit text, and where it says [b]bind "`" "toggleconsole[/b], replace the ` by something more accessible, like F12.
And don't forget to save.

Bleh, nvm, you need sv cheats enabled to use it.. which is retarded..
