Is it at all possible to spawn npc nodes on a map while in game? I feel though if it was people would have done it already.

I think that works only specific SNPC's that are scripted to use that.

Yeah you can make nodes in game. You have to have the map open in hammer while you do it and then in console type map_edit mapname I believe.

Does that not just send some information back to Hammer? As I recall, the map has to be rebuilt after adding nodes that way.
