Simple question,
Is there a function to stop the HUD from turning red when we die? I am sure I saw a function like that but I can't find it anymore or there was an easy to do it.

Well try disabling this part of the hud.
CHudDamageIndicator The red trapazoids displayed on the side of the screen when damage is taken
